What dog doesn’t love a good romp and run in a field? Sweet dogs there!

@karstopography it was great fun, we hired the field for an hour today which is fully secured specifically for dogs. It was enid's first time OFF leash so we booked into "paws paddock" so we could practice recall with her. With a sight hound you have about a second to recall before they hit 30mph to chase something

My town has a free place for dogs to run and play.
It's called Bark Park.

And of course, they're called sight hounds not sound hounds. Good luck on trying to get them to listen when they spot something to chase. I used to walk a friend's greyhound. Lots and lots of squirrels, here. About a second is the same amount of time I've observed.Amateurinawe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 9:38 am @karstopography it was great fun, we hired the field for an hour today which is fully secured specifically for dogs. Re: Enid and Aggie
They look like they are having a blast! So much fun and no other bully dogs to argue with. I bet that they sleep really well today. What a great place to have fun and do some training.
I was a little shocked to learn that there is doggie daycare now and it is a big thing! Some people just take their dog for a half day once a week so that they can play with the other dogs. Some go all day every day while you are at work. Gosh my poor dogs have to stay at home and wait for me while I work. I wonder what my neighbors think about that?

@MissS they loved it and so good for training in privacy. Not sure about the doggy daycare, whippets tend to stick to lurcher types and much rather snuggle up on the sofa or under the cushions.

Re: Enid and Aggie
@Amateurinawe We have private paddocks around here and they are very popular. More parks are adding them every year. We now have a dog beach too. I have never used them as I take mine out to a large field a few miles away to run and play.
I know what cozy cuddler's Whippets are. My parents adopted a Greyhound. You would never have guessed that the dog was once a racing dog. A big couch potato.

Re: Enid and Aggie
When I was growing up our dogs had literally thousands of acres to run on including the surrounding national forest.
On the farm they rode in and on the truck or along side the tractor.
Lots of creeks and ponds to swim in.
Always brought in at night to keep the coyotes from killing them.
A typical walk on the acreage was with a bunch of cats and dogs following us.
The cats would get tired and ride on our shoulders.
If we left the house without the dogs they would start howling.

Re: Enid and Aggie
Enid and Aggie love to play fight. In all the time they do this, they are careful not to do serious injury. Having watched them a number of months now, I think I've just about got the rules....
Shoulder barge, this is an easy one pointer, needs a little bit of a run up but can knock the other over for a combination attack... Paw on shoulder, for two points, this shows dominance and height advantage, multiple moves available from this... The leg bite, three points, but it can expose you to an overhead attack, barge or neck grab. Still three points is three points... The neck grab, a big four points, if this was real you'd be history babes...... Submission, a full five points. Multiple death strikes can be done now. Games over honey.....I win....

Re: Enid and Aggie
@Amateurinawe This reminds me of two of my pets. I had a German Shepherd and a raccoon. They would play fight for hours just like your dogs. I was always amazed by how much fun that they were having when they were looking so vicious to everyone else. Everyone thought that they were going to kill one another (and they easily could) but they were just having fun. There was one more move by the raccoon that was a big score, he would come in from below and grab the dogs neck at the jugular. He never hurt the dog though.

Such beautiful babies! I'm glad you have a great place to take them for fun and games. I've never had two dogs at once. Just one dog amid the cats. Still there were some dominance games between them. The cats always won... claws, you know.

Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white.
You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
