Favorite Celtic music artists/albums/songs
My favorite artists include at least these (in alphabetical order):
* Alasdair Fraser
* Altan (especially The Snowy Path, Dónal agus Mórag, and others)
* Aoife Ní Fhearraigh (excellent vocalist)
* Buttons and Bows (I'm mostly just familiar with their rendition of Inisheer.)
* Capercaillie (especially Alasdair Mhic Cholla Ghasda)
* Connie Dover (excellent vocalist)
* Eileen Ivers (excellent violinist)
* John Whelan (especially Trip to Skye and others in the Celtic Treasure album)
* Karen Matheson (especially Rithill Aill)
* Mary Bergin (I'm only really familiar with her rendition of Garrai Na Bhfeileoig / Miss Galvin.)
* Orison (especially The Butterfly)
* Relativity
* Sileas (vocals/harp)
* Susana Seivane (Jotabe is pretty awesome)
* Tabache (I'm only familiar with Cregg's Pipes Set / The Gneevguillia Reel, Are You Willing …)
* Tannas
* Touchstone (I've only heard a few of their songs, but they were good.)
There are plenty of other great ones.
Enya's cool, too, but she's more new age.
My favorite various artists Celtic albums are those in the Narada Collection, and those with the Green Linnet record label. Celtic Odyssey is a really good one for starters.

Love the Green Linnet label!
I listen to Radio Siamsa out of Dublin on internet radio while working. Non-stop 24x7 Celtic music (mostly Irish)

Re: Favorite Celtic music artists/albums/songs
The music of the hill folks in the US is a form of Celtic music.
Been around for many years along with the dance.
Celtic music is a broad brush indeed.
And not necessarily restricted to any particular style.
An example is the lste Delores O'Riordan of the Cranberries.
Rock music with string instruments combined with that beautiful Irish voice.
The song was written after her grandfather died.
It holds a special meaning for me and I cry a pint every time I hear it thinking of my wife.
What else could you possibly ask for?

Followed her from the beginning to the end.
People my age didn't know who she was.
Their loss for being stuck in the past.

Other suggestions for Celtic-influenced rock/pop:
Ashley MacIsaac - especially the song "Sleepy Maggie"
Sinead Lohan - the album "No Mermaid"
