Patched the watering trough
My girlfriend was using a heater to keep her new livestock watering trough from freezing in the cold weather. They are only supposed to be used in metal troughs, because if the water gets too low, the heater melts a hole in the side of the composite plastic kind, which is exactly what happened.
First I used an oscillating saw to level off the melted plastic lump and also to score the area around it so the adhesive would adhere better. For the patch I used scraps of fiberglass paneling known as frp. The hole was on a curved part so I had to mosaic a few pieces together. I used "clear weld" which is a jb weld 2 part epoxy product. It dries quickly but I let it sit a day between coats, of which it got three. The final coat is silicone.
Good as new. My dog seemed impressed.
