Pickle Pipes For Fermenting

We just started a small batch of sauerkraut. Earlier, my sister found online and ordered something called "pickle pipes" for degassing the ferment. They're made of silicon so no moving parts, nothing breakable, easily cleaned and you can use them with your regular jar rings. There's a nipple in the center that has a hole in it to let the gas out.

Right now we're using both the old airlocks and the pickle pipes. This is the first time using the pickle pipes but If these work out we'll have to order a few more. If anyone out there has any "cons" to using these, please post them!

Ball is making plastic leak proof lids now.
Just modified one for one of my airlocks.
Works great and no rusting.
