Dear Folks, Just a hello from Austin, Texas. Will be starting tomato seeds next week. Mostly heirlooms, a few hybrid and hardy rootstock... Maxifort and Super Strong. Have three 100 sq-ft plots in the back yard near downtown Austin. Usually poke five plants in each of the raised beds, for maximum of 15. Favorite varieties are Sioux, Celebrity, Porter and a mystery Cherokee.

Just about anything.
But the heat will set in and methodically take out the loosers.
Pray tell how do you know my last name?
Not that it matters because I'm sure I know you.

Hey harry,
Seeing as I just woke up and found my tomato frame collapsed in last night's storm, do you have any great tips on how you support your tomatoes in your raised beds ?
ps is it $1000 per plant, per tomato or per seed ?

Amateurinawe, That's my cost per each tomato harvested. Tomato plants are supported in industrial-strength cages made of four-foot tall galvanized hog wire. Had them rolled at a machine shop about five years ago. Figure that they will be good for at least 10-15 years. Each cage is tied to a six foot rod of rebar that is driven into the ground.

Gardadore! Thanks for the welcome. Not so much to envy, as all plants are burnt out by Fourth of July. Sure did enjoy the seasons when we lived and gardened for eight years in Pittsburgh.
