I like the Perma-Loc fittings and the half inch dripline. The Perma-Loc can be reused unlike the barbed fittings which are very difficult to remove and replace. They also do better with higher pressures. But I also stock and use barbed fittings.

When I first started with drip irrigation I made the mistake of buying Rainbird dripline. Rainbird is non-standard 3/8 inch dripline. Several years later I still have to stock adapters to go from 3/8" to 1/2".

Originally I also made the mistake of buying a kit half of which I had no use for. I didn't know anything about drip so I thought a kit would be best for me.

I use an adapter to garden hose thread so I can just hook up to a regular spigot. Then 1/2" tubing connected to 1/2" dripline and then an end cap. City water does not need a filter. Pressure is reduced/controlled by the length of the dripline. I have tried to standardize with 1/2 gallon per minute 12 inch spacing making it easier to maintain the system. Also the slower 1/2 gpm can handle longer runs than a faster rate.
