Yup, been keeping busy reading, lots of people have made a lot of money and lots of people have lost their butt...
You needs permits, then really good seeds, that are really good prices,a nice area to grow it, that isn't stolen, no bugs or deer.... I'm just starting...

I believe CBD American Shaman contracts with their growers prior to the growing season and monitors the crop to ensure that the THC level is at or below the 0.3% limit. If it is above that limit they can't use it for their products.

If it goes over THC limits, it has to be destroyed. A lot of crooks have sold seeds that were trash. Some farmers made some money a lot of them lost money...
Last year CBD flowers was selling for around $800/lb, this fall some of it was around $100/lb, some of it wasn't sold even at $100...

I hope the market doesn't get flooded and it becomes worthless.

Ethanol from hemp? Have not done the research but if switchgrass can be used why not hemp. Corn is better but maybe a supplemental crop.

Just looked and it is not currently legal in the State of Texas.
But should be soon sometime in 2020.
Some counties are going to fight it tooth and nail including mine simply by way of what I would call harassment.
But it will be a losing battle I hope.
If you get stopped in Bastrop county with legal hemp you better have all your ducks in a row with papers and all or it isn't going to be good.
As for when it happens it is going to be up to the officer that pulls you over.
The same goes for CBD oil or whatever it is called.
Not trying to politicize this but telling the facts and warning folks that might come through here.
My information comes from the sheriffs department and what they had to say.

Medical has been allowed in our state for a few years. Recreational will be legal starting Jan 1. The scramble for licensing is going on full bore. The growers will be playing catch up for some time to supply product to the retail sites. Many rules and regs but the state's overall theme is to not make it a grind to find a way in. The state is broke and needs the $. Local ordinances can disallow retail and growing sites but in doing so will cut themselves out of any tax windfall. The noose is slowly loosening. Now a regional airport will allow baggage to contain allowable amounts. This is the TSA folks. The last time I checked this is a federally governed agency. Are the waters beginning to muddy? On the subject of hemp, if the state's don't take control, the federal government will be inching in. The big boys such as Bayer, Syngenta, BASF, etc. have their feet in the door and are behind the recent Farm Bill changes. Missouri is trying to get ahead of this to a least give the small guy a fighting chance. Their proposals will supersede these farm bill changes.

I have a lot of pics to share, but I should probably make an online album so I don't hog all our bandwidth.

I am still picking the seeds out of my crop. I only had one half of an acre, but as mostly a one man show, harvesting, hanging to dry, then shucking the flower off the barn dried plants was a couple weeks of work. Now I have it all in 40 gallon trash bags and the mission is to pick out seeds. I lay the flower out in a room with a dehumidifier, heater, and fan, and have then been grinding it up with an electric drill and a paint mixing wand. Then it gets shaken in a bucket with window screen on the bottom to remove chaff. After the drying and screening is repeated again, I can finally run the material through my new toy:
https://atferrell.com/equipment/clipper ... ice-tester

It was three thousand bucks, but I could never get all my seeds processed without it. I am still looking at a month or two of work to run all the material.

Feminized seed like mine is still going for about a dollar apiece. I am counting my chickens before they hatch, but based on the samples I have taken, I likely have made an amount of seeds numbering in the six figures. Plants sell for about two bucks, so germinating the seed doubles the value. I won't have a final count for a while, but I could have possibly made an obscene amount of money off one half acre. Our family farmland will be up in limbo when my grandpa does eventually pass away. The hemp crop may very well make the difference in being able to keep the land in the family.
