Making red steel wagon less noisy?

I have a little red steel Roadmaster wagon that I thought would be great for moving things to the community garden down the street. But it’s so noisy! And I’d rather not wake up the whole neighborhood when I go to the garden at 6-7 am. Is there a way to make it quiet?

WD-40 on moving parts should help.

Maybe a rubber mat in the bed, but tires already mentioned that you have to pump up or at least some bigger solid rubber tires would surely help. Not clear that all those wagons can be retrofitted with better wheels. Pull the tractor across grass or dirt where possible.

I don't know if your wagon has wheels on axles or pins, but if they squeal real bad, measure the diameter of the axel or pins and the inside diameter of the wheels and go to store where they specialize in nuts, bolts, and bushings. See if you can find bushings that fit the axle and wheels. You may need to bore the wheels out a little with a drill.

I always prefer to modify wheels to accept sealed bearings, but the machining costs of that will probably be more than the wagon cost brand new.
