I have that too on Sweet Aperitif!!!! I think it's the beginnings of Early Blight and I've removed all the infected leaves.

I should probably take them off. I just found a couple of leaves on my 42-Day that were scrunched together against the cage and had different spots...seems like it's time to spray the Serenade again, with a little BT for the hornworms!

Serenade would definitely help! I don't have any, and might try the bleach treatment when the wind dies down.

I think it is early symptoms of Early Blight which is usually not fatal to your plants. Everyone gets something like this on their plants and they usually recover. Remove the infected leaves and destroy them or place in your garbage can. You can spray your plants with liquid copper, seranade or sometimes milk. I myself alternate spraying copper, milk and Daconil. Copper treats fungal issues and Daconil prevents them.

Don't do it, Linda. Just don't. I know for a fact I mixed it right, checked my math twice, and the bleach spray DESTROYED my garden. Nobody is going to convince me that that many leaves were infected. I will never ever use the bleach spray again.

Thanks Marsha. I was getting set to spray some bleach this morning..... I'm finding yellow spots on many leaves and not just at the bottom of the plants! No dark spots at all. I've removed the offenders and am keeping my fingers crossed that I caught it early, but of course Early Blight blows in on the wind...…

I'd certainly keep any eye on it, as I'm sure you're doing. I'm just not sure if I'd go ahead and remove all that foliage just yet. My spidey senses say that this might be some sort of nutrient deficiency/heat stress. Once again, this is just my opinion, but my first thoughts when looking at your pics aren't OMG FUNGUS KILL IT.

This is why I remove all of my tomato plants lower branches but I still do get some Early Blight. some varieties seem more susceptible than others. My Sun Sugar always is severely affected.

I use copper spray when necessary but I also would NEVER use bleach. I have never tried it but I think that it would be very risky to the plants.

According to this university, it's source is as an overwintering inside plant debris, but also comes in on wind and rain.

Well, I decided to err on the side of caution and cut those leaves off. I also have something similar on my patty pan squash:

(The dark spots at the top of the leaf in the first picture are some tree debris)

Thosefirstfew photos show tiny dark spots and a yellow halo (the "tell")around them. Clearly an infectious organism, the usual culprits are fungi, or bacteria. Copper fungicide gets rid of both. Use copper fungicide at the weakest recommended strength and be sure to cover above and below the leaf and down the stem to the soil line. Avoid getting the spray on the blossoms, it can cause them to shrivel. Use every 10 days, and also after a heavy rain or dense fog.

Hopefully it's still good, it seemed like all the blue stuff was stuck to the insides of the bottle (copper always stains all my sprayers). Anybody know if you can leave the copper fungicide mixed up for a year?

I would not leave it for longer than about 2 weeks.

Ok, if things don't improve in a couple of days I'll mix up a fresh batch. I did hit this plant a little bit with Serenade/Actinovate yesterday when I sprayed all the tomatoes, but I was trying to be gentle with my hose end sprayer.

Well, a couple of days of humidity and then rain yesterday have played havoc with some of my tomato plants. My 42-Day, Maglia Rosa, and Taste Patio (the last two are Artisan and similar foliage) have developed a lot of yellow leaves along with nasty black stuff on some of them. I did spray some Serenade and Actinovate the other day (before we got into the humidity and rain), but I'm sure I should have been doing that more proactively and often. My other plants seem alright, including the Sweet Aperitif that I started this thread with (been cutting off some of those leaves), and the squash plant.

Well, I feel like I just cut most of the leaves off my 42-Day, and I would have cut more except there wouldn't be any left. It's got these brown spots on the stem, this is like a repeat of last year, all my plants got this and it even progressed to the fruit in some cases.

This seems to have happened suddenly just in the last few days.
I don't know if this is Early Blight or something else.

Doesn't look like early blight. The paleness of the leaves makes me think that some mineral deficiency is in play. But I'm not sure which.
