You can cut the core out of a store bought head lettuce to plant but it bolts when starting to grow again.
Probably too much stress on the plant.
I did the same thing with romaine this week,I was wondering if that will bolt also?
after 6 days it is sending up new leaves.

I never did that with lettuce (though I always have leaf lettuce), but I always do it with onions, and sometimes shallots.
