Purchased and planted 1 of each of snack red, orange and yellow pepper, 2 red cayenne chillis , some continental cucumbers, which have gone onto a trellis across the south end of one land and some sweet basil.

Any hope for progress on the greenhouse? I imagine you are too busy getting things in the ground now.

@ddsack, no progress due to planting and non-stop wind, last thing I want is for some of the polycarbonate panels to be damaged during installation.

8 more tomatoes planted tonight after work, 3 Prudens Purple, 4 Japanese Onion and a Chang Li cherry.

Added some more capsicums/ bell peppers today, 2 Candy Cane, a small striped bell which I hope to cross with some of the red/yellow and orange bells to see if I can get the stripes to carry over and a small golden yellow snacking sized bell. Also picked up some Lebanese cucumber seedlings for growing snacking cucumbers, dome more basil and a punnet of lettuce

These fit 10 to a punnet tray and are how a lot of the seedlings here are sold. Larger single pots of varying sizes are used for tomatoes, peppers and the like..

After 19.5 mm/0.78 inch of rain overnight, which nicely wet the last bed that I had set up I managed to get the last of the tomatoes and peppers in today. Was thinking that we would score another thunderstorm, only to just get the edge of the last of 3 that ran along the hills to our south. Hopefully a bit more overnight. Got that punnet of basil into the ground along with a punnet of Lebanese cucumber which will be harvested for baby cucs, these are on another end of row trellis.

In the 8 days since last comment we have received 94 mm /3.76 inches of rain, so everything is wet,wet,wet!
Had a rep from one of the farm machinery stores bring out a Pasquali walking tractor plus rotary hoe and rotary plough. Does a wonderful job. Will be getting both plus a flail mower deck and several other attachments, including a potato lifter. Will make my life much easier..

Tomato babies
The first of the tomatoes for the season, 3 out of 4 plants of 42 days have fruit on them.
Berry season has well and truly arrived, with a quick inspection after the sun came out and a breeze got up reviled that there were plenty of youngberries ready to pick. Approximately 25 lb picked with help from Mum and Dad, whom took 16 lb home with them.

A few raspberries were found as well.

Picked a small handful of blueberries today, the first off the new patch that went in not so long ago.

A couple of years ago I found a single elephant garleek bulbil that had shot, it was replanted and produced a 1 inch, 2.5 cm round. (Photos of both should be in this thread somewhere, I need to track them down and put into a separate thread)

The round was planted earlier this year and recently lifted. It grew into a two inch/5 cm round with 3 bulbils attached. Will be kept separate and replanted next season, when it should divide into full size cloves.

Speaking of garlic, I have lifted most of mine, just the Rocamboles to go plus the porcelains that I am attempting to get seed from. Will lift the Rocamboles shortly, still undecided about the porcelains, they are still straightening their scapes.

The complacating factor here this year is Allium rust. It has hit the garlic mildly, has not touched the Elephant garleek and have not checked the chives or garlic chives yet. Need to check the onions as well. Crazy season has had blow in for the first time.

For the first time ever, and Mum cannot recall her father picking cucumbers before Christmas, I have 5 Crystal Apple Cucumbers ready to pick. Picked two today and will pick the other 3 tomorrow

The first of the citrus, a Meyer lemon that was on the plant when it was purchased has matured and ripened enough to pick easily today as well
Unfortunately it looks like no tomatoes will be ripe before Christmas

The next crop of lemons is well on the way. No other fruit on any of the other citrus trees.

No tomatoes ripe yet, but have picked 5 Crystal Apple cucumbers before Christmas, with 3 green slicing cucumbers about 6 inches long and a good number of small fruit on the continental and Lebanese types.

Not BLT worthy, but the first of the season with more on the way. Some already a lot bigger than these two.

Cucumbers are ripening full steam ahead now, loving the constantly warm humid weather. Tonights pick, 2 Long green supermarket, 2 Crystal Apple and 4 Lebanese picked as baby cucs, plus a third 42 days tomato. The green cucumbers are about one pound each, the crystal apples are around 11 Oz.

Have finally gotten stuck into fixing the long bed between the house and veggie garden, broke up the soil with Pasquali, levelled it off and grabbed a load of sand to top up the end. Will take 4 or 5 more cubic metres to finish this bed off. Nearly 40 strawberries planted around the edge, 2 rows and these will be extended when I get the next meter in the bed, giving us around 70 or 80 plants. Three overgrown sunflowers also found there way into the bed, along with 4 Kang Kong, which have a frame over them for netting to try to control grubs.
