I’m more inclined to trim off the skin of some of these tomatoes like this Kellogg’s Breakfast pictured if there’s any imperfections or scars. Eats better, imo, I don’t like feeling anything rough in my mouth like scarred tomato skin. Rough or bitter tomato skin can interfere with the enjoyment of a BLT. The other tomato on this BLT is Big Zac.

First glance, I thought it was some slices of cheese that you put in there.

My dad used to cut the crust off the bread for me.
He said the bakers would hold loaves of bread under their arms next to their arm pits.

What do you all think about cooking bacon in the oven?
I've been reading about it and it could be a big hassle save...
Got to go shopping soon and get some real bacon!! Tomatoes are ready, and my dear friend brought me romaine from her farm....

I like the idea and have done it with great results.
But not with the temperature being 104F outside.
If you haven't noticed I haven't baked anything in a while.

I just picked up a Nordic Ware Oven Crisp pan and rack at my local WalMart, the last one in the store, for $16. It has room for 4 bacon weaves, but I doubt that I would go past 2.
Now, all I need is bacon, bread, lettuce, and ripe tomatoes. Slowly, I'm getting there.
It's summertime, so at least I have mayo on hand.
400 degrees for 20 minutes may, or may not, be long enough. Some people are saying 25 minutes. Some may like their bacon EXTRA crispy. Oven temps vary, some may be cooking on parchment rather than a rack, some may be cooking a larger amount of bacon, etc...

And after hearing that, you still ate just the crusts, that he cut for you?

Well I bought bacon today. It was the cheapest in the bin, at $7.79 for 500g. Naturally smoked, no added flavors.
Couldn't believe how many things I had to avoid "no salt" "maple" etc etc wow just to get me some regular stuff.
Having a cooking day today, and two more guaranteed cool days to come. I'll put bread on tonight.
I will try the oven bacon thing for sure, and see if I can line up some easy BLT's as the feature maters come ripe.
Weave is not gonna work for me though, as the bread shape is come what may.
Hellman's on special today for $5.99 the old regular price, so I got an extra.

It could possibly be bacon cured with celery powder and no salt.
But celery powder can't be legally called cured in the US so they say it isn't cured.
But it still contains nitrates or nitrites from the celery powder.
Doesn't matter one turns into the other as it cures.
You couldn't safely do this with the real stuff by itself because it is so poisonous in small amounts.
You have to cut it with salt or sugar.
My curing salt is around 6.25% sodium nitrite to salt ratio.
So now you know how they get away without adding salt.
Or at least my best guess.
I wouldn't trust it any farther than I could throw a hippopotamus for the long haul.

No joke I bought maple bacon by mistake and have no idea what to do with it.
But hey. It's not just us. Don't tell me you don't have yoghurt-free yoghurt in the states, milk-free milk and cheese, and all the rest. It's a symptom of our "health culture". Salt free chips??? Reduced salt everything, I shudder....
Low fat butter.

I had to hide butter like some men hide magazines from their wives.

While y'all are sweaten bullets over bacon prices I buy mine for $4.49 for 1.5 pounds.
You just have to select the right ones and learn how to separate the slices.
I learned this from (((My Mama))).

No worries, it's August; soon enough they'll be rolling in downhill at breakneck speed, with a gale force tailwind.

Well I just heard an ad from Tim Hortons for something involving "double smoked bacon".
Why would you do that? SMH.
I'll have it with a double boiled egg on a double toasted bun, and double brewed coffee. Throw in a few coals for good measure.
