Total Eclipse - Klaus Nomi, 1981. This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly fascinating. If you give up on it too soon, you'll miss the instrumental/dance break section near the end.

I don't know if you tried listening to it, but that Klaus Nomi song I posted is about as far away from "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as it is possible to be.
