Re: Baby Micros Started
So here is my report on my micros:
Grown in hydro:
Yellow Patio Choice Hybrid was bigger than I expected, but it was ok in half an Aerogarden 24XL, and was pretty good tasting. Will grow again.
Fat Frog: Good size for Aerogarden, but I was very disappointed with the taste. I may grow in soil before divesting myself of the seeds.
Jip and Jenneke: Good size for Aerogarden. OK taste. May grow again, will try in soil.
Rosy Falls Hybrid: My MOST prolific tomato. By itself, it has kept me in tomatoes for the last two months, while my outside garden just won't ripen. The taste is better than store tomatoes, not great, but good enough that this will be a staple for me from now on.
Whippersnapper was grown in both soil and hydro. It didn't do well in either, and tasted blah. May or may not get another chance.
In soil:
Christmas Tree: Blah taste, not very prolific. I might try it in hydro, and might try in soil again, but pretty disappointing.
Farthest North: Too soon to tell.

SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.
Missed you all terribly!

Oh no!!! I was looking forwards to your reports on your 600 varieties! I have to say now that i have a garden plot im going to cut it on micros too. My balcony is a mess and its not enjoyable seeing it full of messy tomatoes that dont taste that good.AKgardener wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:59 pm @ it has been a sad season for maters big and small my Vilma’s we’re more watery this time and hardly any production so disappointing my yellow hearts breakers pruduced a few good clusters but it was very tart probably won’t grow them again Laura 5 gave a lot of tomatoes and flavor was sweet and tart to me it was worth keeping Rosie finch I had a good amount of tomatoes most of them were very good sweet and tart but toward the end they got more watery . the weather is cold at night so there not turning like they should will try them again I never got to try any of my other ones they just got flowers some didn’t even set buds and it’s to late to save anything!! Very disappointing because I had so many to try I will not be growing any during the winter or next summer I have my indoor wither maters started 15 stick plants and next year is a trial of 7 varieties maybe 8 but micro are just making the cut next season haha
Id like to try the Laura #5 though if you share seeds on this years swap.

@GoDawgs haha I’m so sorry I should of explained it better during my search for indoor maters I happen to find the stick tomato it’s an actual variety called stick tomato they do not have normal leaves why I’m trying them because thry can get tall but not wide very usually and unigue these are mine so far there only 3 weeks old red maters 3-6 oz fruit 65 days but I never go by that we all know it weather bases these days.not much on them but fun project to try

ROFL! OK, I get it now! I did an online search for it and found photos. Wow, that's a unique tomato! I wonder if I could grow three or four in a window box since they're so narrow. Really weird leaves too, in bunches going up the stem. The photo I saw had a comment in Russian. These plants look like they grew up radiated in Chernobyl!

Re: Baby Micros Started
well who ever is still doing micro's this winter.. I have finally got to eat one the new ones.. Red table.. we compaired then tovilma since they ripened at the same time..it was a good tomato the skin wasnt to thick it was a well balanced tomato I think a lot of you might like... vilma was still sweeter but still just as good.. I will be saving seeds from red table so I dont have to keep ordering them. I only grew 1 plant just in case I didnt like it but worth growing my my eyes.. both plants gave me 20 tomatoes.. but then quit.. im hoping I get more flowers.. I have juni. and cholate and orange dream that now have flower buds.. so only a matter of time..

Re: Baby Micros Started
I have multiple micros going with a grow along in a gardening group on Facebook called Tomato Lover's Collective and while a few like Jewel Beetle didn't make it, many did:
Golden Hour Micro
Allure Micro
Blue Dwarf Micro (more a dwarf)
Bunny Hop Micro
Cocoa Micro
Curley Kaley Micro
Funny Plum Micro
Gold Pearl Micro
Inkspot Micro
Lil Peeps Micro
Little Heartbreaker Micro
Mini Marzano Micro
Purple Boy Micro
Red Velvet Micro
Spunky Bird Micro
Super Bunny Micro
Tartufo Micro
Tiny Tim Micro
Wooly Kate Micro
Yellow Canary Micro
I really need a green micro! If anyone wants to swap micro seeds, I am hopeful for a few Jewel Beetle as I couldn't order them in Canada. I have a lot of Yellow Canary and Delice de Neuilly but I also have lots of other tomatoes too. Let me know!

Re: Baby Micros Started
I hope to see your harvest! Exciting to have so many going. The first to get flowers was Funny Plum Yellow and Cocoa Micro and you can already see the little plum tomatoes growing, so cute. I had a micro from earlier but it only set one fruit
I think it was too cold but I have rectified the situation!
If you are searching for anything and I have it, I am happy to swap for three seeds of Jewel Beetle
Keep me in mind!
Have a great day and good luck with your micro babies.
