It was 65 this morning! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The doors and windows are open for a little while to let in that nice fresh air. I checked my weather data and we haven't seen a morning this cool since mid June. Highs will be in the 80's through Saturday before low 90's return. I'll enjoy the heck out of the 80's while we have them. :)

Torrential "showers" here this morning, still muggy. Slept with the window cranked full open last night and some kind of misty gale gusting over me. Would've been unbearable without it. We're supposed to get a couple of cooler days to end the week, but then back to midsummer temperatures, hopefully less humid than this.. It'll be in the 80's in my yard, which is nice for the tomatoes and alright by me.

It's still 69° here, at 11:50 am, after it got down to 55°, and only supposed to get up to 74° all over this area today. Unbelievable for this time of year. Still not out of the woods yet - in last summer, which was mild, we had more 90+ days in September than in the other months: 12.

My poor hens were just sitting under a shady tree all day with their beaks open gasping for air because of the heat. I feel bad for them.

Talked to a shipping logistics agent yesterday and I mentioned that I saw a dredge working in the middle of the Freeport channel the previous weekend. He said Hurricane Beryl shoved several feet of sediment into the channel making the channel too shallow for the bigger vessels to navigate. Might take a few weeks to clear it all. The port has a goal to get to fifty something feet of water, but the hurricane had shallowed it up to about 41-42 feet. Most the current vessels coming into the port need at least 45 feet. Talked to a fellow greeter at church and his beach house at Surfside Beach was destroyed by Beryl. If over 50% of the structure is destroyed it is considered a total loss and not even the pilings can be reused. He left his beach house about 8 hours before the storm hit and as the water was rising. Had a bad feeling about staying. Said about 10% of the homes at Surfside beach were destroyed. He’s selling his lot and is done with beach living.

I never could understand why people cry about living on a beach when a hurricane hits.
Not saying you're friend did
I worked with a guy that lived on the right side of the Galveston bridge before you went over it going south.
Bayou Vista.
He moaned and went on when others got help but thought he needed the government to bail him out when the hurricane hit.
I told him that these places were meant to be disposable second homes for well to do people.
It's expected they'll get washed away.

108 driving home.
AC went out last night.
It wasn't froze up.
I turned it off and went to work.
Came home and found the problem.
The starting capacitor on the compressor fan went out.
I kick started it and it's running.
Got repair folks coming out tomorrow hopefully.

It's frigging hot but I'm a big boy I can handle it.
I was raised without AC.
For awhile when I got home the sweat was pouring off of me.
Got it down to 81 now.
Next week on average it'll be around 10 degrees cooler.

A little warmer today, but still only got to 77°, and very low humidity, so I won't complain! And the 10 day forecast no longer has any 90+ days on it - 88° is the highest, and just once, so again, I won't complain! Very little rain forecast, and it's already dry out there, as I discovered when mowing my lawn.

Dropping to 52F tonight and man, it feels cold after months pretty steady 60F and above.
Another cool day tomorrow with showers, then they tell us it's Goldilocks for the rest of the week. Nights around 60 F and highs nominally close to 75F. It'll be 80's here, sunny, and perfect to ripen tomatoes.

Nice, sunny and windy today before anything up to 50 mm/2 inches of rain over the next week

Getting anthracose on tomatoes from all the rain. Hopefully some dry weather for a few days at least.

It was finally work-all-day-in-the-garden weather! So I did. Such a relief after a month mostly over 100F and then days and days over 90F. It's fairly rare to get days in the 70s here in the summer, so I took full advantage. Many tomatoes needed to be encouraged to stay out of the paths. And beans are finally coming in!

Just had a line of storms move through, dumped 10 mm/0.4 inches in 15 or 20 minutes, hail missed us. Winds locally were up around the 55kph/35 mph, so nowhere near the ones at the end of February. Alpine regions had wind up to 150kph/93mph.

It looks like that stuff out in the midwest might be heading this way, with 90° and 95° the next two days, and the humidity is going up with it. Only 84° yesterday, with higher humidity, and 87° the forecast high for today. Scattered thunderstorms, due to the humidity, but very scattered, so I'm not turning off the timers.

More showers this week and consequently cooler temperatures. There’s been just that tiny hint of fall on the way in the air recently, like summer’s grip is slipping a little. 3/10th inch rain yesterday and 2/10ths so far today. Nothing rough or violent.
