Re: i have kittens
my wife has taken a shine to miina.
she will go outside several times a day now that its warming up a bit, and sit on the deck
holding miina on her lap until the cat falls asleep.
now, this is the same person who when i asked if it was ok with her if we got a couple barn cats
said to me, "go ahead, do what you want." which is code for, no, i think its a bad idea. the last thing
we need is more animals to take care of.
i took it as a yes.

Re: i have kittens
A few weeks ago, I mistakenly left one of mine outside for the night. Off and on brain fog currently, with me. Fairly late in the day it was still sunny, warm with no wind. The kitten immediately went to the outside of one of the basement windows, Momma was inside the house (just spayed) next to that window. So, I decided to let the kitten stay out longer than normal. And forgot. It was a rainy cold night, and the kitten was glad to get back in the house early in the morning. Now it's double checking each evening, where they are.

Re: i have kittens
My Mom kicked one of our Siamese cats out of the house one winter and she got frost bite on one of her ears.
We had that cat for probably 18 years and my Mom hated her.
That cat was mean but she liked everyone but my Mom.
This was in Missouri not Texas.
The cat had a nice Barn to stay in.
After the lost tip of her ear she got to come back inside.

You can't argue with a closed mind.
You might as well be arguing with a cat.

Re: i have kittens
toivo got himself into a jam wednesday.
he was running around earlier in the day, but then i didn't see him for the balance of the day.
toward sun down i went out looking and calling him. toivo boivo where are you buddy? i heard
maowing from some where in the barn. toivio. maow. toivo, maow. finally i located him.
on one end of the barn, there is a bay where the old allis chalmers tractor, and mower are parked.
there are two windows there, a lower one that the cats can get to by walking across beams going from
the loft to the outer wall, and then a higher one that no normal cat would attempt to get to. toivo was
at the higher window. don't know what he was doing there. i was of the mind set that he got himself up
there, he can get himself down. thursday morning comes along, i go out and call, toivo. i hear a plaintive
maow from high up. he is still stuck up there. question is, how are we going to get him down. i checked out
hauling an extension ladder up to the loft and bracing it against the outer wall, but that wasn't doable. only
other way was to go up a vertical ladder some one in the past had made by nailing planks to the upright posts
from top to bottom along one side of the windows. i am three weeks post op on my shoulder, and was
battling something that was causing intermittent dizzy spells. me climbing 30 ft up a vertical ladder was not
going to be a good idea. fortunately for us, my wife had met with a church member the day before. he is ex military.
they spoke for a couple hours. in the course of their conversation, he said he used to do a lot of climbing when he
worked for a realty company in virginia. being the young guy, he was the one that had to climb up on the roofs to do
an inspection. my wife said, i'm calling david. he said, he would be happy to help out. he came over, and we went into
the barn bay. there is the ladder. there is toivo. think you can get him? david said yup, i can get him. what should i do with
him once i get him? i said, just put him on your shoulder. he won't go no where. he climbed up nimble as can be, you have a
loose plank here keith, he says about two thirds of the way up. he bypassed that one. when he got to the top, he gingerly
reached over his head, and secured the cat, and safely made it back down. later he said, he had kinda went ulp, and said a
silent prayer to God to keep him safe, because if he fell, he knew he was going to die. toivo has a new besty, and hopefully
has learned his lesson, and won't do that ever again.
we are grateful.

Re: i have kittens
They sure can give you a good scare now and then. Bless his heart, I bet he was glad to get down safely, and the young man too.
Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white.
You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread.

Wow... the "kids" can get into the strangest predicaments! Glad David was able to come to the rescue. And, uh, better fix that one loose step just in case Junior decides one lesson wasn't enough!
