I am not really great at describing taste, but I'll try to make a comparison between some of the tomatoes.
Here we go Blacks black krim, Paul robenson, purple Russian, and Amazon chocolate. And pink Dester as a sort of control or out group.
And the winner is Paul robenson for both me and my husband. It's deep, it's a tomato. Balanced and delicious.
Second is Russian purple, not as deep and with some aftertaste which according to internet is called smoke... anywho, I liked it and my husband even thought that it was a winner.
Amazon chocolate is on the sweeter side. I like it still and very productive plant (nothing to do with taste but still nice!)
Black krim. Idk, it's kind of grainy? I wasn't a fan of the texture, and the taste is more on the acidic side. Not for me, as I like sweeter tomatoes.
We also compared pink Rose vs Pruden's purple vs Dester vs Severnye. No pictures because my phone died with them...
I am afraid to say this here but but I didn't care much for Rose and Pruden's purple....I find them very close in taste. The texture is fantastic, they are smooth and just melt in the mouth. But not much of the tomato flavor? They are kind of very mild (at least in my hands). I was hoping to find that pink tomato from my childhood, sweet, big flavor, tomato-y. And those are not them.
Dester is a bit sweeter and I liked it more.
Severnye is an interesting tomato. It's juice and more acidic than all other three. And the best way I can describe it is they are minty. They give some of the cooling feeling in my mouth. I know it's weird, but I'm eating it constantly for that, even though it's not the most flavorful tomato overall. And the plant is just pumping them out.
I will compare all those later with another pink African Queen, but I have a feeling ot might be the winner for me.
Hungarian heart and Bread and salt. This a tough one! I like them both.
Bread and salt is like watermelon. Juice! And sweet. I love it.
Hungarian heart has a tomato flavor, and tasty.
I will compare those 2 to Curtis cheek in a few days @Mike G
And we ate first orange watermelon of the season! Huge one as well, more than 25 pounder.
