Re: MORE BIRDS
This morning I heard the darndest chattering going on outside.
What the devil is that?? (Strange noises to say the least.)
I looked and to my surprise it was two crows talking to each other.

We went to a seafood restaurant on Galveston Bay for lunch. The pelicans gathered in hopes of getting scraps from a man who was cleaning fish.

Re: MORE BIRDS
I have the same problem @AKgardener. The flicker has made a pretty large hole in my eave, and this spring I had to do battle with starlings that wanted to nest there. It's a hard place to reach - we managed to board over a first hole and then he made a second one higher up.
The grouse are busy in my garden this week, and yesterday there were two of them up in a cold, windy pincherry tree, hard at work getting something as the branches swayed around. Pretty comical - I especially love how they puff up their feathers to stay warm.

Re: MORE BIRDS
I think you've got it. I've never seen this duck in my life before about 3 months ago. I thought they lived in South America. I'm in N.E. Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie.

They're everywhere in the US.
As a kid we raised them and occasionally ate them.

Re: MORE BIRDS
A few days ago we had a Brown Goshawk fly into one of the house windows. The daughter grabbed the phone and took a couple of shots while it was sitting on the kids table from when they were small, recovering.

Re: MORE BIRDS
Ring-necked ducks feeding along the lakeshore, sorry about the grainy image. We don’t get these ducks every winter, but the lake has a lot of aquatic vegetation this winter so I suppose that’s why they have been hanging around for a while. They look a lot like lesser scaup ducks, but have different markings and scaup like more open water.

Re: MORE BIRDS
Exactly what species of geese are these white ones and the grayish brownish ones? I often see on my way home from getting Starbucks in the morning many of the white geese and occasionally a brownish gray goose walking around with them.
