I want to add that's the price for them to go shopping for you sometimes.
My ticket from the other day is romaine hearts 2.88.

I didn't know if you were crying at the high cost I was paying for lettuce or the high cost you were paying for lettuce.
So I went shopping in Hawaii to see what the cost was.
I know Hawaii is a collection of islands and everything but I find it ridiculous how expensive everything is there.
Especially stuff that isn't imported.
I would have loved to live there pre WW2.

For the time being, I just head out to the elevated Greens bed and pinch off some Parris Island leaves.

@Cornelius_Gotchberg what is the bacon you like? My dad recently had nueske’s bacon and said it was amazing. I believe they are out of Wisconsin.

No real preference; the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch handles all that, and has done fine job.

Yer Father has good taste! Nueskes (a WESconsin company/https://www.nueskes.com/store/bacon/?sc ... mgQAvD_BwE) is Rolls Royce of, but not limited to, Bacon!

To keep me apprised of that, they send me emails a coupla times a day.

I haven't had really good bacon in many years.
It was farm raised and salt cured not with nitrates.
It tastes like pork.

@Cornelius_Gotchberg I ordered my Dad for Father’s Day 2.25 pounds of the wild Cherrywood uncured bacon. Nueske’s evidently ships all over the US.

@worth1 I would kill for dollar lettuce. It’s alright though, I kinda figured out my lettuce rotation so I’ve been eating homegrown for a while now

I looked on line it has celery juice in it.
That's where they're getting the nitrates.

America's Dairyland thanks you's! And if there are other siblings, you's just blew past 'em at Warp Speed and left 'em in the dust!

I'm doomed when I open that 24 ounce package I have.
Might as well make toast and fry up some eggs too.

I just discovered something.
I went to my spare refrigerator and found another 24 ounce pack of bacon.
That puts me at over 3 pounds of bacon and or hog jowl.
My darn tomato I bought a week or so ago is still hard as a rock.

We had a BLT, dad willingly and without prompting or arm twisting gave up one of the three 12 ounce packages of the Nueske’s Wild Cherrywood smoked bacon yesterday. I even argued not to take any, but he insisted.

The bacon was the best I ever had. And maybe the better news is I see our HEB now sells Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon. Maybe the Applewood smoked type won’t be as good as the cherrywood smoked version, but even if it isn’t there’s still plenty of margin to work with before it gets to the level of ordinary bacon. ~2.5 times less expensive to buy at our local HEB than buying and shipping direct from Wisconsin. Nueske’s Applewood smoked bacon runs not quite double the run of the mill mass market stuff here and comparable to a bit more than the premium local brands of bacon.

I have never seen the Cherrywood bacon offered before. With you great reviews, I'm going to have to give it a try. Even though I am in Wisconsin, I don't have a local store that carries it. I have to order it online.
