Lord-a-Mighty...I can't FATHOM a World without Peonies!

My Dear late Father always had HUGE in-season** bouquets on the kitchen table for my Dear late Mother, a passionate habit passed down to his #2 son.

**Our 1st blooms'll be in a coupla days; stay tuned.

Apparently they can be grown in Texas, provided you's keep 'em outta the afternoon sun. https://www.nhg.com/plant-now/think-you ... 20directly.

I bookmarked this link. I did look into the matter of growing peonies here recently, notwithstanding the excellent information you shared, and discovered that it can or has be done, growing peonies here, but takes some extra over and above regular garden gymnastics.

I’m considering and will continue to cogitate on growing peonies here at 29° North.

1st Cukes of the season: Two [2] on left Sweet Success (uncharacteristically stubby), and a WESconsin SMR 58 on the right. All three (3) are smallish because the seeds were started early and these here (the first of [hopefully] many) haven't been out too long.

The lovely and long-suffering Mrs. Gotch wanted them for cold samitches in this >90°F/>32°C weather; heck, how could her adoring husband say no...?

@AKgardener, don't let them there Sweet Success runts trouble you's none, the best (READ: MONSTERS) are yet to come!

Nope, we cut back to only three (3) varieties to avoid crowding; thinking back I should have planted Daikon Radishes in there.

Regrettably, at times it takes The Gotch a while to embrace a good suggestion; ~20 Daikon Radish seeds are now soaking in anticipating of being planted in those marvelously wide open rows on Tuesday.

FWIW, harvested the 1st four (4) Daikons today, which the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch sectioned up; they're marinating in leftover Famous Dave's Zesty Dill and Garlic Pickle Juice as we speak.

Both have lasted a long time for you, good going there!! 36 bulbs of garlic should get you a lot to replant, too.

No replanting any of them there, they're remnants for personal use; laying a few on our in-laws today, as well.

>350 in the ground as we speak which will be harvested in a mere six (6) weeks; can already smell 'em!
