I have been ordering a lot of seeds this year from across the pond. I know that I won't be able to grow them but I think that in the near future that it will be much harder to get them over here. The EU has seed restrictions on home gardeners now and I don't want all of these seeds to be lost forever so home they come.
What restrictions are you referring to exactly? I'm not aware of any new ones ...
You know I've had similar thoughts in my head, but the other way around. I really do hope that private mail across the pond does not become a victim of the current unfortunate political tensions between the US and the EU ... I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before buying from commercial seed vendors in America gets a lot more expensive for us Europeans

I foresee that after creating this thread and not stating the size of your meager stash, that you will be swamped with seeds coming in soon. Good luck and may your collection grow!
FULL DISCLOSURE: I descend from both chronic Paternal AND Maternal Pack Rat heritage.
That said (excerpted from viewtopic.php?p=146551#p146551): "FWIW, I'll be planting 46 varieties; I have 44 in house as I await a package containing final two (2) from the XXXXX-XXXX zip code. I'll be starting 66 plants, there are 66 spots on my template; all that remains is which goes where."
From a Stash-to-Usage ratio, you's can't get much better than that.

I have a pile of parcels that need to be opened and logged in still, so I am unable to make an official count of my seed stash. I do know that it is well over 1,200.

It's still too cold up there in Cheeseland. Once he pulls his mittens and socks off, he can give us the number of his collection.

Tomato seeds are to be sold only as ornamentals and not for human consumption. This is to support big ag and to deter the home gardener.

Mail is another consideration but I did not want to bring up a political issue.

This isn't new at all. I've seen the "only for ornamental purposes" line in seed descriptions for years already.

I don't see where I said if they were new or not. The law has been in effect for about 2 years.

I feel so much better!
Here I thought I had a serious seed hoarding problem, but at only about 375 varieties, some of you make me feel like I'm in Little League again! Thank you! I feel so much better now.

In my book, 375 varieties is T-Ball.

It's sad, I know, but my attention has been divided with Bean varieties (350), and Pepper varieties (1375). I'll try to do better.

I cannot say for sure ( and choose to not admit in writing, Ha, which could be used against me in the court of domestic peace), but I WILL state that the numbers appear to be reasonable in the right circumstances. There are also many other sorts of seeds...and so many that I don't have yet.
Maybe sort of like Fibber McGee's closet...
As for what will get grown out eventully, most all as I intend to live a long long time ! Pooey on the actuary tables, I say!

GG'sWT and SOTW from a TJ Enabler; you'd think I'd have learned, am I right?
Anywho, visions of Mail Slots jam-packed with more More MORE (think the The Sorcerer's Apprentice...with Tomato Seed Packs rather than water buckets) suggest I best allow them to voluntarily come forth and self-identify... [FF to 02:00]

We see things a little differently. I would see it more like this.

What a blessing, your collection is finally growing and now you will have a selection to choose from. I wonder how many more are coming?
