It's never too early for great ideas, like making it an open-faced sandwich.

With less bread, even if it's a great tasting bread, more tomato flavor comes through. And, having two open-faced sandwiches (more tomato) instead of one closed-faced sandwich, becomes an option. One just might want to go a bit lighter on the mayo, though. ;)
In general, sandwiches make me wonder why the invention of this cruel joke? In order to do the layers right for taste purposes, you end up with something that requires a bigger maw. Then when you do manage a bite, pieces may be pulled out, juices squeeze all over your hands...
BLT does have the advantage of being made with toast. A more solid foundation.
Oh and that flat leaf lettuce which is so useless in a salad, we know what that was invented for....obviously.
I've been known to substitute for lettuce (forgive me) with maruba santoh, trimming off the thick juicy stems (saved for stir fry).

I can harvest it at the same time as tomatoes, as lettuce from the garden is bitter by then.

The day I put avocado on a BLT, is the day I grow a man bun and a soul patch.

One must consider soy bacon, almond flour bread and some sort of organic green lettuce that doesn't exploit people, animals, water supply or the environment in general.
Same with tomato.
Eggless mayonnaise is a must made with avocado oil.

Yep, I always go for 2 open-faced with thick tomatoes instead of just one. I find the mayo helps bring out the tomato flavor, especially if it's homemade with a dash of olive oil. I also gently precut the sliced tomatos into cubes to minimize the chances of everything collapsing at first bite :)

What kind of tomato? The lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch prepares her adoring husband a Monday Morning BLT brunch every week; 26 hours and counting.......

Look at all of that bread acreage going to waste. Another tomato slice, cut into a couple of wedges, would have tucked in nicely.

@Tormato To insure domestic tranquility, I will not be passing that constructive criticism along…

‘Twas either Stump of the World or this large unnamed pink that my friend gave me. He lost all his labels a few years back but saved seed from a particularly productive slicer that year and we’ve both been growing it since.

My wife used to make sandwiches like that for my lunch at work.
Another guy saw it and went home and complained to his wife about her sandwiches she made him compared to my sandwiches.
Not only was she lazy he was stupid.

The "ribs" suggest (IMO) it's not SOTW; looks pretty gosh darn firm, though!

Good looking tomato and sandwich, LOL. This last week, in my baconing excessiveness, I made a great blt on sourdough bread with avocado slices. The tomato was good, the bacon crisp and still slightly chewy, toasted sourdough and just right ripe avacado slices with Dukes mayo spread around.

Making myself humgry again...

I’ve only had the one so far for 2023. Going to have to rectify that soon.

The BLC.
Bacon lettuce and cactus.
The thorns keep everything together in the sandwich.
