The gal who cuts my hair in Hurley (Where U.S. 51 Ends And The Fun Begins!) doesn't like Tomatoes; her BLT is Bacon Lettuce & Toast.

My other neighbor on the north side doesn’t like tomatoes. We called him up one time “you want some garden tomatoes?” “Naw, I hate tomatoes”

The lettuce to my tastes, could be the best lettuce in the world, is mostly a just a filler for the BLT sandwich. If I have good lettuce available, I’ll put it on the sandwich. But, not having any lettuce around doesn’t prevent me from cooking up some crisp bacon, slicing a great tomato and making a sandwich of it.

There is no way I’d make a bacon, lettuce and toast sandwich, though, sounds terrible.

Yeah, there'd need to be something else to kick it up...slathered Mayo, Sprouts, sliced Vidalia Onion and/or Cuke...Famous Dave's Zesty Dill and Garlic Pickles.

I'm not a big fan of most lettuce. Grow some Maruba Santoh, to give to her.

We have some Joi Choi Pak Choi and Sui Choy planted; close enough?

To me, no way on the Joi Choi, with a slight flavor of mustard. I'm not familiar with the other one.

In my opinion, Maruba Santoh sets the benchmark for a leafy green, though a light green it is.

Based on yer recommendation, which (to date) ain't done me wrong, it's on my 2025 list.

A burning question remains: Did you's consider suggesting this during a Seeds-n-Such Free Shipping event...?

I've never considered an herb as a leafy green.

It sounds like it must have a mild flavor, or otherwise it might overpower the other ingredients. I'm growing Spicy Saber basil this year, if it germinates. Now, that one sounds strong tasting.

Day 155 of 2024 Leap Year Of The BLT!, 211 Left. Today's Monday Morning BLT Brunch specimen supplied by Metro Market, Woodman's are >$4.19/lb...To paraphrase Meatloaf: ♫I Would Do Anything ♫For MM BLT Brunch♫, But I WON'T♫ Spend That♫...

Anywho, today's selection was so tasty that even the lovely and long-suffering Mrs. Gotch's (whose LEAST favorite Tomato is "anything store boughten") sang praises:

I’ve got the pleasant problem of most of my ripe fruits being too big to eat in one serving, so went with a couple smaller wild crosses.

IMO, the best BLTs are the ones where the B and the L completely block out the bread!

I big flat fat tomato the covers all the bread with possible hangover.
How about some smoked hawg jowl instead of bacon?

Apologies; ideally, the T should assist in the cover!
