I need to grow Dester.
I have Dester, I should've grown that this year to but ran out of room.
I can send you a few of my seed if you like.
I'm sorry to say it looks like I won't get a fall monster. Weather is too against me, my blossoms are just dropping. Too hot and humid.
By the the time it's cool enough for happy blossoms, the fruit wouldn't ripen in in time before frost.
I appreciate your kind offer, Anne, but I already have Dester seeds I just need to grow it.

Looks like
Soft Rot got to my
Young Stricker Lead Horse

And it's younger foal:

Had this dastardly disease not afflicted set in, it
WOULD have been a
CONTENDAH!
There's still visibly unaffected fruit; do I pick 'em or ride it out? Cross-listed in the Diseases sub-forum/

@Cornelius_Gotchberg I would let them grow. Maybe not a contender but a good source for seeds.

Think I should save seed from the damaged ones, even though they aren't completely ripe?
We just got back after eight (8) days in the North Woods and that was the 1st Tomato I checked, a
REAL disappointment!

I know. I feel your pain @Cornelius_Gotchberg . Things like this can really ruin your day. If you want to try to save seeds from these, I would try to let them sit a few day. I don't know if you can do that the way that they are rotting. Usually I like to see a blush on a tomato before saving seeds. I suppose that you could try it now and see if they are mature enough yet to be able to keep. A germination test would be in order before sharing these.

Gigante Farina
Again the photo of what's left of this plant after frost damage on April 29th:
viewtopic.php?t=5090&start=60#p122326
Didn't take care of it at all except watering and several times liquid tomato fertilizer. It was quite diseased. Decided to clear this bed to make room for my fall crop. I took a sucker to clone it in a container, possibly will get a few decent sized fruits before the season closes.
This one didn't get bottom end rot, while the Green Giant next to it did.

43.5ounces. 4.5 ounces away from my 3lbs goal.
Bummer while pruning, the green fruit broke from the stem, maybe it could gotten a little heavier, but still not quite 3lbs.

I'll wait until this one ripen to take a slice photo:

@maxjohnson Wow! Way to go Max! That's amazing.
I was coming here to post this photo of a Hungarian heart that is my biggest tomato ever, but it's not even close. Your tomato could eat mine for breakfast and immediately start thinking about lunch

@MissS
It's a Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter. I've had several much smoother fruits north of 3lbs over the years, but I always routinely pulled the big, fused blossoms off but I didn't this time. There's a chance that there will be a bigger one this year.
