Sub artic seeded February 22 germination 3 days I found these today..

Is "Giant Belgium" and "Giant Pink Belgium" basically the same variety?

I would think so. I do not know of a red tomato called Giant Belgium or of a tomato named Giant Pink Belgium. All I'm aware of is Giant Belgium. Please correct me if I am wrong.

When you Google Giant Belgium you also find the name Giant Pink Belgium. I'm assuming some companies add the term 'Pink' so people will know it's pink I guess. Ferry Morse seed packet calls it Pink. Same with Burpee. Guess it can be called either.

Make that six varieties. I thought that the 2012 Dwf Sweet Sue wasn't going to come up so I started another new-to-me from the MMMM, Dwf Russian Swirl. Well, you know what happened... old Sweet Sue decided to wake up from her deep sleep and rejoin the world! And of course the Russian will still swirl into the lineup.

I have all the out door stuff up and thriving I’m down a few but that’s ok then I have my indoor summer maters started micros/ dwarf types that don’t get to tall got a nice corner for the taller ones and racks u can adjust for the others

Can't wait to work with Your Majesty, it's nearly non-existent in the U.S.

There are some serious tomato beasts in here. Pretty exciting to see so many varieties on the docket.

I'm boring by most standards in here:

Amish Paste
Gold Medal
Mexico Midget
Early Girl F1
Early Girl F3

This will be my first year not growing Amish Paste. Not because I didn't like it but because I have limited room and so many I want to try. One of my favorite paste tomatoes

@JosephineRose I thought that I had heard of all of the various Brandywine's and then you throw this one out there. What do you know of this ones background?

It’s my first year with Amish Paste, or any paste tomato for that matter. My wife has done a lot of salsa and pepper canning in the past, but last year we just had so many tomatoes that we canned sauce for the first time. It turned out ok, but wanted to really get some rich tomato sauce flavor this year so we decided to do some paste tomatoes. The Amish Paste has great reviews, so giving it a whirl. It’s also my first year with Gold Medal. I haven’t done a non-cherry yellow tomato in the paste so this will be fun as well.

Large blooms on my German Queen! ❤ Is a megablossom and double blossom the same or does mega blossom mean like triple fused?

The lower photo looks like several blossoms fused into one package. I count at least six. Going to be a big fruit if it sets.

How are you counting 6? I only saw 2, judging that the stem looked like 2? And knowing my luck it won't set. Has anybody had good success using that Tomato Set spray? I used to have some but quit using it then eventually chunked it.

I haven’t used the spray.

As far as I can tell, fruit set or not is about the weather (which relates to the ability for pollination or not), the overall growth stage and condition of the plant, how much fruit is already on the plant, and maybe some other mysterious wildcards.

I’d say that we are getting favorable weather at the moment if your weather is similar to mine. I’m getting good fruit setting on most of my large fruited tomatoes.

Not sure which one you were referring to: Apricot or Broadway?

I grew both for the first time four years ago and both have been regulars in my garden ever since. I was an utter failure at Sudduth's and Yellow BW and decided to try Apricot when I saw it at Delectation of Tomatoes. It produces spectacularly for me and my garden buddy who lives 5 hours north in grey Eureka. Last year I grew it out against my forever favorite, KBX and Apricot Brandywine was superior for me in taste, texture and production - though KBX killed it in size. I love KBX but next to Apricot BW it was almost tart. So I'm going with Apricot BW this year.

Broadway Brandywine was either a mutation or stray seed that came up as a red RL variety in the packet of PL Apricot BW. I have pictures and a description of both in the first post on this thread here: viewtopic.php?t=1746.

I grew it out and so far it has been great for me, though I got heart shaped fruits the second year: I tired of calling it "Not Apricot Brandywine" so I named it after the garden they were first discovered in.

I have decided to continue to grow it out and see if it reverts back to the original gorgeous shape or stays heart shaped. I will be planting multiple plants this year.

@karstopography Here's more pics of my German Queen's megablossom. Do you still count 6?
