Of note: The Amish Paste is a
WESconsin cultivar!
Of note 2.0: It's refreshingly rare to find such discriminating taste in a two-year old!

Day 346 of
2023 Declared Year of the BLT...19 left!
Today's subject tried to bypass the discerning eyes of
The Junction's 2023 Giant Tomato Contest participants; hilarity ensued:

With that attempt crushed, its destiny was assured:

'Course, the inimitable
@Mark_Thompson didn't alert us until April 24th (
viewtopic.php?p=95967#p95967), which rooked us the benighted out of nearly four (4) full months...is an extension in order...?

@Cornelius_Gotchberg If you move your Monday BLT up a day to Sunday you can squeeze one more in this year! I think I may have one or two more in me with all the leftover bacon I've got from Christmas brunch.

Last BLT of the year so it got a full photo shoot. Victims are Oaxacan Jewel and Amish Paste (rumor has it an old Wesconsin variety, but I’m not fully convinced
) My youngest was my partner in crime again this time, did her share of damage. It’s been quite a year, thanks to everyone that played along in this thread.

Well @Mark_Thompson this was a great thread. I really enjoyed how you have had the Gotch running to the store every week to find a serviceable tomato and a piece of lettuce that wasn't wilted to keep up with you in this thread. Sure is hard to have a good BLT here is WISconsin. The Gotch did a great job!

@MissS Yes
@Cornelius_Gotchberg is the undisputed BLT champ. He’s got decades of experience that I just can’t compete with. A little disappointed he didn’t take the bait on my last post, but we’ll cut him some slack on that one

@Mark_Thompson "(rumor has it an old Wesconsin variety, but I’m not fully convinced)
Rumor? Surely you's jest; to wit:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amish_Pas ... nnsylvania.
Back in the day, I had many a client up in Taylor (Medford) and adjacent Clark counties; heavy soil, flat farming areas, drawing the Amish....and their Tomatoes.
On more thing.
Seeing we weren't...um...apprised of 2023's designation until damned near May, The Gotch believes it should be extended...at least until late April...a
YEAR being 12 months & all....
AND...2024's crop will have sprouted under the indoor lights.
One more thing, 2.0:
The lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch has been an indispensably willing accomplice in our celebration of
THE BEST (IMO)
samitch in the
Known Universe!
One more thing, 3.0:
Due to tomorrow's Badger FB's
New Year's Day Bowl Game appearance, and Bucky BB's Tuesday Night game, the next installment of
BLT Brunch is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Can't hardly wait...
