Not much pollution where I live.
Can't emagin living in Los Angeles.
Been there seen, heard and smelled that several times.
Living in Bastrop Texas was a life long dream of mine.

Having an appreciation of the beauty of our surroundings is a wonderful thing.

This is what the old forest looks like here, when most of it has fallen down. This area was a dense mature forest 30 years ago, then it started dying off and blowing down. Only a few of the old ones still standing. Lots of new growth though. The spruce and var live to be 80-100 years old. Larch I think can be older. There are some enormous ones still standing in the valley. Maybe the other trees will grow up around this one and it will carry on for another generation.

This restaurant is aross the street from the Johnson Space Center is frequented by NASA types. It's specializes in Mediterranean food and has a small market specializing in imported foods in addition to the restaurant. Lots of autographed photos.

We occasionally go here for lunch.

In the twelfth century we have reference to the existence of abundant banana groves, sugar cane, and holm oak groves. In the year 1166 Muhammar Al Salawbini was born in Salobreña, an outstanding grammarian of the time, founder of a school of philology in Seville.

During the Nasrid kingdom of Granada, founded by Ibn-Alhamar, Salobreña was one of the most important cities on the coast of the kingdom. The written references referring to its fortress, its magnificent mosque, its buildings are significant….

Therefore Salobreña had an important fortress, at whose feet an urban plot surrounded by a walled belt was distributed. In addition, there was a large district made up of the plain (sugarcane, rice and banana trees), the mountains (livestock and terrace crops) and the sea (commercial route on which an important fishing industry depended).

I was just explaining the Muslim occupation of this area the other day to a guy at work.
Not in an anti Muslim way but how long is was in comparison to time and history.
It would be like the USA was occupied for hundreds of years.
Unimaginable to many.

[mention]Nico[/mention] very nice photos. Spain is a beautiful place. Once upon a time, I spent 3 lovely weeks in various parts of España including Granada. I love all that architecture and influence the Moors left behind. [mention]worth1[/mention] I wonder how many people and peoples in the history of mankind have experienced that feeling “when are these visitors/invaders going to leave”. After a while you just make accommodations or the accommodations are made for you.

Super pictures [mention]Nico[/mention] , brings back fond memories of the palace at Granada which I visited over forty years ago.

Being stuck without a car all summer, it was a huge treat when my family brought me further out the bay. A very steep hike but what a view. These craggy hills also hold a lot of marshes and catchments, and met a little green fella living up there.
