Walmart here has 60 eggs in the box for $10.48.

Aldi has a dozen eggs for $2.39
HEB $2.77

We might eat a dozen eggs over a two week span.

About a month ago we bought half a beef from a local farmer, had it processed at a local butcher shop and brought it home and filled a freezer for just over $4/pound. Lots of ground beef, a bunch of roasts and a pile of steaks a couple of large briskets. That will last us the most part of a year.

Our egg lady is still at three dollars per dozen on extra jumbo eggs and she throws in a dozen pullet sized for free since she says they are too small…in the store they would be mediums.

That is the benefit of living in the middle of nowhere with really good folks all around. I still have tomatoes and peppers for a few days if anyone wants them.

Walmart's 18 ct box of eggs has been back down to 3.22 for the last several weeks after being up around 5.50. I wonder how long it will stay there.

The market price of beef on the hoof is just under 2 dollars a pound.
Some charts show Cwt this means per 100 pounds.
You can find historical charts going way back.
You will also notice the ups and downs like the one in the middle 70s.
It stayed relatively calm for several years and then in the beginning or a little later of the 21st century it started to climb.
Then leveled off in around 2016 and then did a big jump in 2020.
Right now we're at an all time historical high.
Well beyond anything you can adjust for inflation.
For awhile we were actually doing pretty good considering inflation.

There is absolutely nothing I am addicted to that I won't stop buying, due to ridiculous prices (well, maybe chocolate, but I probably have enough of that to last until I can't cook it anymore). Beef, eggs, butter...the list could go on, for things I've stopped buying, but started again when they brought the prices down. Eventually, the price will go higher than the markets will bear, and the majority will tell them what to do with it.

I actually wasted the afternoon looking up places that raise and sell beef butchered.
I think the cheapest was up north a ways at I think 6 dollars a pound.
The one down the road here in Bastrop is around 9 dollars a pound.
Others are all over the place bragging about all natural and so on.

I used to buy 1/2 gallon once a year, in December. Then eggnog ice cream came out. So, now it's once a year with that, instead.

I can think of better ways to drink dark rum other than to mix it with slimy raw eggs.

No raw eggs, only pasteurized ones.

It's mostly milk, sugar and cream. If it wasn't such a tradition, I doubt that many people would drink it. It's sort of like turkey for Thanksgiving. I know a lot of people who would only cook and eat it that one traditional day of the year. And, being Irish, I know plenty of Irish people that will only eat corned beef that one traditional day of the year.

I know a lot of people that use raw not pasteurized eggs.
Even pasteurized the whites are still slimy.

Corned beef was more of a thing we ate when my mom decided to make it from raw/ green brisket from our annual butchered steer.
I never related it to St Patrick's day growing up.
I knew we were having corned beef when I saw her mix up the ingredients to brine the beef in.
Normally with cabbage and potatoes.
Never a whole brisket.

I was just about ready to pull the trigger on a guitar kit to build a parts stratocaster yesterday.
Nothing fancy but something to do
Most of the cheaper knock offs are poorly made and or the fit and finish is horrible depending on where it came from.
I look at things like type of wood and so forth.
The cheaper components can be replaced with better stuff.
This way I can have something that can cost 2000 dollars or more but not have to pay that much.
Not even close.
The quality of the build is entirely up to me and I'm good at it.
The kit cost i think 79 dollars but the shipping was like 89 dollars.
Seriously has shipping gone up so much that a guitar that container and all weights less than 15 pounds?
The company is reputable and they sell all brands of music stuff on line.

No but I compare prices and sometimes the free shipping price is complicated by a higher price that another company that doesn't have free shipping.
Sometimes the price is practically the same.
But if the price is right and let's say free shipping over a certain amount let's say 50 dollars and all I want is something that is 40 dollars I'll look for something else that brings me up enough to get free shipping.

I can actually navigate from one company to the next and it all ends up in the same cart with free shipping.
Then soon thereafter I get a coupon in the email that's lord only knows what on my next order.

I was doing this with pure fishing bouncing from ugly stick Penn and Fenwick rods.
I got some crazy deals on some of this stuff sometimes 50% off or more for discontinued items or stuff on sale.
But I never paid shipping.
It's how I ended up with more rods and reels than the law allows.
Nothing was ordered through junglezon.
One I'm really proud of is a Penn fathom level wind for 50% off.
These reels aren't cheap I only paid a hundred bucks for something that costs around 279 dollars because there was a new model coming out.
Another place in California I never paid shipping from either.

You want to build a guitar.

Far more complicated (I believe) than building a fishing rod. Years ago, maybe you should have looked at building fishing rods. It is far less expensive than off the shelf, even with much higher quality components. And, one can build exactly what they want, not settling for a compromise.

I picked up an Ozark Trail OTX Pro 7 bearing light/medium duty fresh water spinning reel a few months ago, marked down from $40 to $14 ($2 a bearing). I only fish ultra-light/light duty for fresh water. So, I'll need to find, or make, a rod to balance with this reel. I won't go into fine details, but I have a few identical rod blanks to work with (4-piece 6 foot, rated for about 6 to 10 pound line). I've cut the back piece on one of them, where I can now build a 3-piece 4 1/2 foot rod, a standard 4-piece 6 foot rod, and a 5-piece 7 1/2 foot rod. All of these blank pieces have been collecting dust for about a decade. I think that I can make the 7 1/2 footer balance well with the new reel, without adding any weight to the butt.

As for guitars, 40 years ago I did some of the windings of pick-up coils for a company that then sold them to Ovation. Back then, I didn't even know that Ovation made a few electric guitars, hollow-body I assumed.

There are certain rules you have to follow with electric guitars and several methods to accomplish them.
After that everything is up for grabs.
The electronics pickups and tuning machines are what's really important.
That and knowing how to wire everything up.
Several skills involved of which Im pretty good at if I do say so myself.
You can make a thing of playability and beauty or you can end up with a Homer Simpson BBQ grill.
What you end up with if you select the right kit is something that plays like a really expensive guitar for pennies on the dollar with no resale value..
Remember Brian May and his dad built the guitar he played with Queen out of scraps.
It's name is red special.
Neither one were guitar builders per say.
His obviously has resale value.
Its worth a fortune.
Been looking at other kits as well but these seem to be straight up good.
