It's about the same everywhere.
More and more people losing everything or going hungry.
People in distress are ripe for the picking if y'all know what I mean.

It's not the cheap buys that are amazing. It's the high priced stuff.

For example, the price of prime cut beef here is very high, even when they put it on special, I wouldn't think about buying T bone steaks or similar. I just don't eat those things. But somebody does, for sure. The bins are full of this stuff every week, so quite a few are buying it seems.

One thing about being a little better off, it means you can buy the specials, stock up your freezer, and avoid the worst prices. But being a thoughtful cook and not a fast food eater is the best way to parse a dollar and eat well.
The food that @pepperhead212 grows, buys and cooks is fantastic. Economical, beautiful, nutritious.

I bought a vacuum sealed Swift choice 16 ounce ribeye steak and had it the other day.
11 dollars a pound and it was over a pound.
It looked better than the store cuts.
Another thing that's ticking me off is they're cutting cap off the ribeye.
This ruins the steak because it's the best part.
Got no idea what they're doing with it.
I bought a breast of lamb and will cook it today.
It was around 4 dollars a pound.

Eggs at HEB are back down to 2.77 a dozen.
Probably less than that because I'm looking on insta cart.

Two weeks ago Walmart large eggs (18 ct box) had dropped from $5.56 to $3.93. I wonder if the supply chain got better or if eggs were backing up in the warehouse because people weren't buying as many. I know I saw some folks ask a worker if that $5.56 price was real and when told yes, they put the eggs back. I usually buy 3 boxes every couple of weeks but at that price I bought only one, hoping for a better price the following week. Got three at the lower price two days ago.

Yes, @bower, it's those expensive items I was referring to, which people keep buying, and paying ridiculous prices for. It's like they are addicted to whatever it is, and can't switch to another similar, much cheaper item, and the prices will rise to whatever the market will allow. Fast foods are a good example of this, where the prices just kept rising and rising, until people finally realized how much they were paying, for so little, and business slowed, and the stores said "Here, we'll give you some discounts, if you buy more", or something like that, and the prices were still ridiculously high, and for what?

The eggs went down again here - to $2.29/doz, at Aldi, after they had been over $4. I got a doz - though they might go down more, they will probably go back up again, and the only time I will pay those high prices, if they are high at the time, is when making all those Christmas cookies!

Some places give you extra fries in the bottom of the bag..
They aren't giving you anything, they're charging for the extra fries but making you think you're getting extra for nothing.
It's a marketing technique.

Went to HEB and the same count and everything HEB store brand cost 7 dollars plus change.

Almost every time I'm in line there's some customer thinking they're getting something on sale or they have a coupon.
The rules are hard to understand confusing and always in fine print.
It's so complicated that the cashier can't understand it and they have to get help.
I find this underhanded and almost criminal.
Bastrop has two Walgreens and one CVS.

I had a catch or something on the center of my right shoulder blade.
The next day my whole rib cage felt like I had a giant anaconda wrapped around it.
Both sides.
I couldn't hardly breathe.
Lasted about 3 or 4 days.
If it didn't get better today I was going to the doctor.
It was way better today.
No idea what on earth it was.

That was the reason for the ibuprofen.
Even without it I'm much better like it wasn't even there.
I had all manner of crazy thoughts as to what it was.

60 count white box of eggs at WalMart the last 5 weeks - $22, $19, $17, $12, $16.

I haven't bought any meat on sale for the freezer for about a month, and won't for a couple of more weeks. I'm making room for (hopefully) the .49/lb frozen turkeys.

The worst price increases are still the pre-made frozen meals. The only thing that I buy is the lowest cost frozen plain cheese pizzas, and I add my own fresh toppings. If on sale, I'll buy 2, one for cooking that day, 1 for the freezer for the next month.

Eggnog is almost $6 for a half gallon! I have no idea what it was last year.
