Tonight's dinner at work, featuring a BLT with one of my Bowerbird Yellows, alongside the usual garden sorrel and short cut bacon, plus a bit more salad, an egg and 'roo burger

@Whwoz, NICE sunny-looking Yeller, there. Along with the Brownie/Purple (whose smoky taste is preferred by the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch) I went with a Reddy last week after fondling any number of Yellers; I'll be going with the latter this week.
Can't find anything about the Bowerbird Yellow, though; is it an Aussie thing?
Speaking of Aussie things, is a 'Roo Burger what I think it is?

Re: 2024 Leap Year Of The BLT!
@Cornelius_Gotchberg, Bowerbird Yellow is a personal selection of mine that I have been growing for 5 or 6 generations now, initially selected from a commercially available yellow down here called Low Acid Yellow. We liked that one, which grew and produced until June one year, so I saved seeds. By chance a year or two later, a rugose leaf Dwarf grew from these seeds. I had not grown any Dwarves before so no chance of a mix up. I have grown these since most, but not every year and they now seem reasonably stable, or did until this year. Typically around the 250 -300g/8.5 to 10.5 oz size, meaty with a little bit of juice, but not enough to turn sandwich bread mushy. This season it has thrown a wobbly at me, in the form of an orange fruit on two of the plants. Everything else about the plants and fruit are the same, except that these orange ones maybe slightly juicer. Still the same yummy taste and fruit size, plants virtually identical, around the 1m/3ft4in tall, rugose leaf dwarves. Need to save seed under a separate tag name, still undecided.
A 'roo burger just hops onto your plate, yummy, a bit gamey and we eat a lot of it. Those critters have really benefited from white mans presence in the land, at least the ones culled for food have, thanks to all the extra water and grass about.

Green Giant and Maruba Santoh the past two weeks in a row. The village elders told me that was a good lettuce substitute and they weren’t wrong. GG is too juicy to be a perfect BLT fruit, but it’ll do.

@Cornelius_Gotchberg Haven’t. That is a good idea though. Gonna make another one today but I think I’ll be using Sweet Ozark Orange, need a little variety in my life.
