bower wrote: Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:49 pm Well I just heard an ad from Tim Hortons for something involving "double smoked bacon".
Why would you do that? SMH.
I'll have it with a double boiled egg on a double toasted bun, and double brewed coffee. Throw in a few coals for good measure.
Twice-baked potatoes are pretty epic though, just for one useful(?) counter example

Finally had our first BLT of the season last night. Picked two GWR tomatoes, Malachite Box and Green Gables. First time our first ripe tomatoes were GWR. They have become one of DH’s favorites. Plenty more hanging to ripen. Finally nights are back in the 60’s rather than 50’s with days in high 70’s and low 80’s.

A vole ate all my lettuce, and this morning he got his first bite of low hanging tomato.. Should I put out some bacon?

No I'll come up with a recipe for cream of vole soup.

Made my own bacon for the first time. Turned out really well, maybe a bit too salty, which is saying something coming from me.

My sandwich skills are so hopeless....
Every time I make a sandwich I loudly complain about the inventor of such a thing, which is like a disaster inevitably.
I can never pile enough things on the sandwich that I want to taste, that will actually stay there.
Every sandwich is a gross mess.
I have a photo somewhere of my first BLT but um I can't find it to show you how hopeless and desperate the situation is.
But my second BLT, yes, I cleverly LEFT OUT THE BREAD. Worked great, thanks.
And delicious.

Oy, we the great unwashed look on in wonder...and jealousy.

You's recall The Gotch's humble request for a pallet of Pineapples? Any possibility of an Add To Cart for that same shipment...?

The whole rest of the country is shipping pallets to Maui, and ol’ @Cornelius_Gotchberg is the only one that wants one going the other way? I’ll think about it.

Fruits the other night were Paul Robeson and Solar Flare if I’m not mistaken

We grow a pretty good pineapple here in KY. Shipping wouldn't be nearly as bad, either.

Shoulda thought twice before posting that inartful comment; apologies.

The Gotch is an Honorary Kentucky Colonel with deep Blue Grass State roots on both sides of the family; that qualify for free shipping...

@Cornelius_Gotchberg You’re good, no apologies needed.

@Uncle_Feist Thats a beauty. Let’s hope no one starts a giant pineapple contest, you would beat me at that too!

@Uncle_Feist; the Pineapples I get (FWIW, I eat one per week) don't look like that at all, they're far more green.

Back to Tomatoes: The Hawaiian Pineapple Tomato seeds I got turned out to be a dinky li'l small-fruited determinate somethin'-or-other.

Back to Tomatoes, 2.0: While my KY Beefsteak has shown some promise, my two Hillbilly failed to launch.

Glass half full? Those Hillbillys were replaced with a Black Krim and an Old German, the latter doing so well across the board, that it's gonna make it into the permanent rotation!

Day 283 of 2023 Declared Year of the BLT...82 remain.

Monday Morning BLT Brunch is always pushed back if there's a Monday Holiday or Ball Game; yesterday was both; the noticeably sweeter than average Mushroom Basket and the Classic Tomato Tastin' Pink Magic:
