Left overs redone. Pork roast cut up and diced, potTOWA nd carrots and some red bell peppers diced up, plenty of onions and garlic, all made into a hash.
No picture, as we all know what hash looks like, LOL. Was Yummy.

Grilled over a hot fire with seasoned mesquite wood and lump charcoal.
Served with quick pickled red onions, cilantro, shredded cabbage, and a creamy cilantro, mayonnaise, sriracha and sour cream sauce.
Turned out delicious.

Escarole, celery, and parsley used in the soup from the garden. Not a lot survived the late December freeze, but the above vegetables did.
Delicious soup and healthy.

Re: Whatcha Cooking today?
I cannot find yellow Maseca (or any other brand) instant masa harina ANYWHERE. The closest thing I can find is Maseca Nixta. https://www.instacart.com/landing?produ ... 93c3ac8f1a
Or Bob's Red mill corn flour, but it doesn't say instant. Not sure if it is the same thing or not.
And honestly, it looks like it is probably yellow but I can't tell for sure.
Are either of these good for making yellow corn tortillas? I would like to try to make yellow corn tortillas.

Re: Whatcha Cooking today?
The Bobs red mill is not masa harina.
It has not been treated with lime and its just a fine ground corn.

Re: Whatcha Cooking today?
Thanks, Worth, I have. It simply is not available near me. I tried 6 different grocery chains, Big Y, Stop&Shop, ShopRite, Whole Foods, Price Chopper and Geisslers (a local chain) plus Walmart and Target. Out of options. Those are my choices unless I want to pay over 15.00/bag with shipping from a mexican grocer online. Even Walmart says it is out of stock online. I was going to sign up for a 30 day free trial of "Walmart plus" to get it shipped free but they just don't have it in stock. The mexican grocer wants I think 8,95 shipping and that was the best I could I find. Amazon is even much worse coming to over 20.00/bag.

Re: Whatcha Cooking today?
Today I checked Dollar General and Ocean State Job Lot. Nada. Really annoying, lol. Some people on Amazon reviewed the Nixta and said it made good tortillas but some descriptions say it is white corn and some say yellow. One description actually said yellow in part of the description and white a few sentences later. I don't really undertand what it is and what makes it different from the regular Masa Harinas.

The salvage store was full of several brands of white and yellow masa harina today.

Well gosh darn that would take more than a minute to drive to from Connecticut. Even in a Prius does not seem like a cost effection option.

Re: Whatcha Cooking today?
I made 24 pints of black currant jelly today. I found a load of berries from 2021 in the bottom of the freezer, which I had totally forgotten, so I made three batches in a row. Then I washed the pot one more time and made beef stew for supper.
