Tomato B is looking very much like Cherokee purple, that makes Tomato A a dolly.

@PlainJane she's not as vigorous as the others but at 5 foot she has thrown 5 large fruit. I've yet to taste but it looks pretty.

It's just as well I use an electric toothbrush on my plants. I was never very musical even as a kid, I wouldn't even know where to start with playing a tuning fork.

So I've done a small number of crosses, and one of those is with black russian. I've made a point of cutting the sepals to indicate a cross and as I have so few I felt sure that would be okay. Well I was paying a lot of attention to the SMFL crosses and not a lot of attention on the black Russian ones. Anyhow, I've only gone and eaten the black Russian ones

And before anyone asks , No, No, No!

heidi.jpg

So this is heidi. It's proved to be good against ber which can affect plums quite a bit. I was a little concerned about disease earlier hence some remnants of spray on the plant but I think that was overwatering and rot and I sprayed in precaution. I tried to single stem and diligently removed suckers etc. But this is a semi determinate or is that a semi indeterminate. It's still kicking out fruit but seems to favour being a bush as well. I like the fruit, it's not huge but it is meaty and will be a nice base for some sauces. I will grow this again and I shall try and single stem until it is high enough off the ground then I shall let it go wild and do it's own thing.

Finally, the SMFL is beginning to ripen. I can't wait to see what they are like. Also, I must make sure I don't eat my two crosses!

Shock horror of all horrors, Tomato B IS NOT a cherokee purple nor is it the other variety a dolly parton. This is worst than wordle or the ending of those comedy soaps , stay tuned for next week. Is it a cross ? who knows, now i have to back track to see what i grew the year before and try to match it up.

So lesson learned, when saving seed , the memory of what is what is a transient brief moment in time., the memory of which can fade in a mere day or two however well established it is in the forefront of today's mind. WRITE IT DOWN alongside the pot and also dont put it near the open window where the wind blows....

photo to follow if any of you can offer a clue - there is a restricted answer set and certainly not in the thousands like wordle..... i think i only did 40 or so varieties....

Fruit is now ripening well on the multiflora's

The smfl I ate a few yesterday, nice flavour but the skins were a little tough, I wonder it it is a ramalet or hanging tomato ? @nico ? The two crosses have taken and ripened.

The bombetta ramallet, I think I'll just hang each truss in the garage and see what happens
