Re: White cucumbers
I had good success with Sweet Success F1 last year, giving it plenty of space and sunlight, so I'm growing it again this year.
I did order White Wonder, will grow one just for fun.

Re: White cucumbers
Here Down Under we have Crystal Apple, Redlands long white and a Russian white giant that will top out at 4lb. All have grown well for me in times past and are readily available. The Russian giant is a storage cucumber and will hold for several months at least.

Gold Nugget is one of the few winter squash I've been able to grow here in the desert southwest.AKgardener wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 3:39 pm Awsome thanks look forward to trying something new also gonna try the golden nugget squash
That being said, it's a nice squash, habit similar to zucchini, not a huge vine. I really like it.
Good luck, hope it does well for you.
I've heard good things about silver slicer cucumber, but I haven't grown it personally.

I have grown White Wonder, Boothby Blonde, and Itachi. I was sadly underwhelmed by all of them, though the latter was certainly the best of the three.

Re: White cucumbers
I’ve grown Itachi and it did just ok. I have a difficult climate for cukes … once the humidity ticks up they get unhappy.
Really liked the taste and texture of Itachi though.

Dragon Egg, I get the seed from Baker Creek - https://www.rareseeds.com/store/vegetab ... agon-s-egg.
Do you participate in MMMM? I sent a some seeds to Tormato, and assuming that he is able to successfully grow and harvest seeds, there should be some Dragon Egg Cucumber seeds available through the MMMM.

Not that there's now any pressure on me to have seed.

Re: White cucumbers
I regularily grow Salt and Pepper, which is a small pickling size cuke, white with tiny black spines. Last year I grew two kinds of longer white cucumbers, I think one was Russian and one maybe Japanese, but I would have to dig in my records to find the names. I liked the taste of all of them, no bitterness in the peel.

It seems like every brown cucumber I tried to grow grew white fruit.

Re: White cucumbers
My suggestion for growing cucumbers is to grow them somewhere that isn't the western side of a white house.

Re: White cucumbers
My Dad bought some white pickling cuke starts at a nursery and planted them. While visiting they are now mature and are just excellent. They have small black spines and are simply labelled White cucumbers...they don't say hybrid and have no more specifics as to names.
I love them so much, I want to save seeds. Any hints or guidance? They have very small seeds!

Re: White cucumbers
I'm growing Itachi now. I like it.
It's doing better than Green Dragon and about as well as Sultan and a little better than Unagi. Most of my cucumbers are bitter only at the stem end, if they are bitter at all, which they are not if I water them profusely.
Last year I grew a white cucumber plant I got from a neighbor who did not know its name. They were like fat pickling cukes, very prolific and tasty, but stopped producing a month or so earlier than the other 3 varieties I was growing.

I'm growing the Silver Slicer this year. So far it has been quite prolific. Very tasty too.
