Kia ora from the south of New Zealand

My name is Aunty Keri (sounds like untea when we say it with our accent)
I love in the south of the south island in New Zealand. (Temperate zone 9b)
Youngest of 6, my father was an avid vegetable gardener, as was his. I guess having alot of mouths to feed will do that. He passed on alot of his knowledge, the more traditional type. I'm a giant nerd so, I like to research as much as I can and I love seeing how others work their gardens, picking up tips and tricks along the way. (Such as the egg carton carrots method. Which I am starting as we speak)
Currently February, it is the last month of our summer down here in the southern hemisphere.
So far I've really enjoyed reading and learning from this forum
So thank you for the opportunity to join in

Aunty Keri

Welcome from Illinois, USA. Did your father have favorite varieties he liked to grow and save?

Welcome from the Land of Cheese and Beer.

We're told that Foster's is Australian for Beer:

How do they refer to it in NZ?

While El Sol slowly crawls back north, might you's post harvest pictures; especially of yer Tomatoes!

On that subject, if yer not familiar with the BLT (https://www.google.com/search?q=blt+san ... nt=gws-wiz), you will be soon (viewtopic.php?t=5948).

Welcome from northeastern Pennsylvania. You are from a beautiful country. The South Island is especially lovely. How lucky you are to live there. I have had the opportunity to visit NZ several times and will be there again next year. I look forward to hearing about your garden experiences.
