On my little trip into town this morning I spied what is known around here as a tulip magnolia (M. soulangeana) in full bloom. Gorgeous pink with a slight tinge of lavender. And directly across the road at the edge of the woods was a wild callery pear in full bloom! So the rest of the way in and all the way back from town I was looking hard for more but nary another bloom to be seen.

I keep a record of when various stuff blooms around here so a quick check shows me that this does happen every once in a while. Still, it's always a shock when I see stuff blooming about three weeks ahead of time!
