Its a lot of work, but it is rewarding!TerraCayda wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:46 pm What a wonderful story! I might volunteer in the similar local organic vegetable garden program once my life settles down after moving to a new city. It's done by a university mainly to teach children how to garden.
Good luck going for productivity! Multiflora cherry tomatoes will be your best friend.

We started the garden behind the Food Pantry from nothing in the Spring of 2022. The garden today has 300 sqft of raised beds in the back of the Pantry building (garden block, 2x6x8 boards) and 100 sqft of Vego metal raised beds in the front of the Pantry building. Most of the building materials were donated by grants and shoe leather asks to countless businesses and fundraising.
Last year we grew about 250lb of veggies and herbs for the clients. About 200 families facing food insecurity shop at the pantry weekly, so.. this is is a drop in the bucket, but it is something. We are looking to increase our productivity in the existing beds and we have a grant to add more Vego beds to the front in 2025.

@CtGrower
Welcome to TomatoJunction! I have a lot of ancestors from Connecticut. I've never been there, though.
