Got back from doing a bit of shopping and found one of these on the deck. Unfortunately it spotted me and quickly stepped onto a raised bed before I was able to grab the phone and take its photo

@Whwoz I had to look it up since the heron pictured looked a bit different than our great blue or little blue heron around here.

Yes that's the one. We have always known it as the Blue Heron or Blue Crane.

Anhinga, a.k.a. water turkey. This particular bird hangs out on the bald cypress next to the dock. He went fishing right after he saw me catching a fish.
