Re: How's your weather?
We might get some of that rain from the latest hurricane, but I'll believe it when it happens. Up to 38 (or is it 39?) days w/o rain, and more heat - 81° forecast high, and even when it gets much cooler, it's still above average. This is good, in a way, since things are still growing, but they do need water.

Update: Ended up with 2.6" from yesterday afternoon until now. Maybe a tad more this afternoon but some places across the Savannah River in SC got up to 13" last night. The weather alert was going on and off all night with flash flood watches for there and some areas about 30 south of here.

The sun is out and the birds are singing.
I have no idea what they are but they're noisy little fellers.
They make a constant high low chirp.

Gale force winds here today are gusting 80-110 kph/ around 50-70 mph. Some outages from that.
No snow in our area, glad to see.

Garden is kaput
I ripped up 5 pepper plants to try to grow indoors for next year.
Most were from last summer that I overwintered indoors.

Got to 60° today, but I woke up to the smell of smoke, around 4 am, but I quickly learned that it was outside, and there was a thick haze, even at 7 am, and I got a phone warning from someone in the county, about the smoke, and that it should lift, around noon - better, but still there. Rain is supposed to get here by 9 pm, with the temperature rising! Up to 70° again, but later in the week, with lows in the 50s, I may get my first freeze, so I'll be draining the pipes out to those irrigation lines, only opening, if needed, and when warmer.

I got only .21" here overnight - not much, but something, at least, to wet the surface.
It's already above the high yesterday - 62°, getting to 70°.

Re: How's your weather?
It’s raining this morning! Prediction is 0.15 inches today, another 0.15 inches Wednesday, and 0.05 inches on Friday. Time to sow wildflower seeds! Highs in the low 60s.
A predicted low if 34F on Sunday. And I still haven’t finished chopping up the tomato jungle. I’ve filled 4 compost bins so far. Whenever I go to the garden, I chop more to top off the bins. With all the green material, they usually sink several inches a week.

Nice here. 83° sunny and dry. Trend is for a very slight cool down over the next few days, but continued sunny and comfortable.

Tomatoes are worth growing for the compost biomass alone!habitat-gardener wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:39 pm It’s raining this morning! Prediction is 0.15 inches today, another 0.15 inches Wednesday, and 0.05 inches on Friday. Time to sow wildflower seeds! Highs in the low 60s.

It's cold here(days 50s& nights 40s) but wildly, it still hasn't frosted yet here in Chicago! Mid November & just just harvested these tomatoes! And fun fact - All from rogue cherry & pear tomato plants that grew on their own this year in the flower beds! Looks crazy but having a lot of fun with them.

Good for you, @kathyhardiman . And welcome to the forum.
We're in a rainfall warning here since yesterday and continuing. A lot of rain, day after day. All's well here, however.

Is brush fire smoke considered weather?
Along with my being under the weather for the past couple of days, that smoke is making my sore throat much worse.

Re: How's your weather?
It didn't quite freeze here last night - 33° - but I'm still surprised that some of those things are alive out there! Many of those herbs usually die at even higher temps than this, but that's with dew on them every day, whereas this fall has been bone dry. One more freeze or near freeze, then temps go up again, but only a little above average.

44° was the low this morning. Dry air, longer nights, and calm conditions leads to a lot of radiational cooling. High was 78° yesterday, from 4pm until 3am the temperature dropped 30°.
76° today for the high. More sunny weather. Goldilocks conditions.

Rainy and dreary, with another frost forecast overnight. Hibernation weather! Still well above zero though. Life could be worse!

Re: How's your weather?
We've been in an 'atmospheric river' for days, fed by a stream of moisture from way down south. Temperatures have been hovering a little above the 50F mark, 11 or 12 C even some nights. I'm not sure how much rain we received, but there's pooling in the catchments by my house this morning, even though the ground is not frozen. We're out of the heavy rain for now, and into the fog, drizzle and showers. I can't believe I have peas still standing in the garden, with flowers and pods and some green leaves aboard, in the middle of November.

Thank you for the warm welcome @bower! Hopefully not too much rain!
Still going strong! But sadly we do have frost in the 10 day forecast now almost time to let go of my tomatoes and last reminders of summer for the year!
