Lena's Bean '22 - From what I've Googled/read, this is a semi-pole bean and used as a dry/soup bean.
My mom grows Lena's Bean every year. It's a short white seeded pole bean with green pods. Good for fresh eating and great for baked beans.

Flat, oval (in-beween) or round pods? DTM? Height?

The seeds have the look of a flat-podded (Romano) type, but I could be wrong.

She says they're about 6 to 8 feet tall and about 80 days to dry beans. She considers the pods to be round, especially in the green bean stage. My son thinks they more oval. So Mom sent a picture of some she hasn't got completely shelled.

the missus, and i tried the first two wladecks tomatoes.

they were dark pink in color, some cat facing on the top with light fluting.
i sliced them open. seed locules were on the outside edge about eight of them.
the center was dense, so not a beef steak type tomato.
the taste, i found to have a sweet flavor with some acid. i thought it was very good.
was it rapturous? well no, at least not to me, but still, a nice tasting tomato.
i did surgery on the two, and saved every seed i could see. there will be a few more soon,
so should have plenty of seeds in the event that someone is interested in growing a good
pink tomato.

Perimeter, scattered throughout or both, is my opinion. I have one variety that sometimes has just one small locule, near the center, with about 1 to 4 seeds. On very close inspection, there are other empty locules that are squeezed tight, and are almost impossible to see.

Basically almost anything, roundish to oblate, that doesn't have "spokes" of flesh and large wedge-shaped locules, when observed on a tomato cut at the equator (a globe), is a beefsteak.

Take any 1 1/2 pound very oblate variety, with just perimeter locules and solid flesh throughout the middle. What do you call them?

In the past, I never thought much about the insides of tomatoes other than I tended to dislike tomatoes with large wedge shaped locules filled with all that unappetizing gel and seeds and relatively little flesh.

The insides of some of these outstanding beefsteak open pollinated beefsteak tomatoes were a revelation. I adore that melting, buttery, smooth fleshy inside that isn’t dominated by gel and seeds. The texture and structure of the beefsteak tomatoes is a big part of the appeal for me.

I'm getting nothing with Google or TV even with trying different spellings. At TJ I see mamadisalvo submitted it in 2021 MMMM. Are you still here, @mamadisalvo? I don't know who submitted it for 2022.
With my next dive into the Pink category bucket, I'll look for more info. (likely before the end of the day)
Hi! A bit slow here as I just found the notification, but I'll respond anyway for the archive! Jesse Saylor is the name I gave to this variety that's been in my family for a long time.

Jesse Saylor was my great grandfather who lived in Crab Orchard (Harlan County), KY. He died in 1968 at age 80. He always grew these tomatoes and loved to eat them sliced with a teaspoon of brown sugar on top (!). I've no idea where or how he acquired them. My family has been saving and sharing them since then. Pretty sure I'm the only one keeping this strain around, so I just called this particular tomato by his name.

It's a big pink slicer that takes a while to mature. Keeps fairly well off the vine. In size and appearance it might be compared to Mortgage Lifter or Stump of the World. Would love it if you all could grow it and pass it around!

Varieties like this should go straight to our wish lists, lest we forget. I may have one pack of seeds left. If so, I'll reserve it for your package.

I have an Elbonian Mudball and an Elbonian Mudslinger from MMMM. Are those different? I can only find the Mudball online.
SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.

Missed you all terribly!

Yes, different varieties from the same cross, both well worth growing

The two I'm not finding info on are from the 2023/24 swap but I don't see a Q&A thread for that but the seeds are from a few years ago so maybe I'll find some answers here:

Tomato 'Tina', pink label says '21
Pepper 'Jerusalem', white label says 2020

Thanks for any info anyone can provide!

I think that people started asking questions this year, or maybe very late last year, before I could create a new thread. So, I just let it run, here.

Tina was a sent in variety that I split up into more packs (my pink labels, that long time participants know well). In the next few days, I'm going to try to finish up inventorying all tomatoes, prior to adding this year's arrivals. Maybe there is an original Tina label with the donor's name, or other info, on it.

If you didn't start Jerusalem this year, it may not germinate next year.
