Hi all! I'm new to the forum but have been gardening a long time. I can't stop buying new varieties of tomatoes to try. So excited to swap and share with everyone. Fun fact: I'm also obsessed with melons and giant pumpkins. Happy growing to all of you!

I like to grow melons, too, although I'm not growing any this year, and I didn't grow any C. melo last year.

My favorite green-fleshed melon is Ashkahabad. I really like how the flesh is kind of gem-like. The rind is yellow, and it has good keeping/shipping qualities, too. The taste is milder than most melons I would rave about, but I really like it, and the texture. I only grew it once, but not in full sun. I would have grown it more, but we took the harvest on a trip to my sister's and didn't end up saving seeds, and then Baker Creek (where I initially got my seeds) stopped selling it. SHPC does sell it, however. I've been meaning to buy it for a good while, now. I just hope it resists Verticillium.

Ahkahabad is in my garden this year, along with 15 other melons, all growing in a mass of vines, in a 4 X 15 foot bed. I currently have no idea what's going on in there.

During harvest season, I always carry several 2 X 3 zip baggies and a small black permanent marker in a pocket, as I never know what opportunity to collect seeds may show up.
