If you want to keep your package mostly a mystery read no further. If you want to create a wish list from participants' posts, read further. It is also for mentioning to a participant that you will be sending in a variety, or more, on their wish list.

The swap IS the MMMM, standing for either the Mostly Mystery 'Mater Mailing, or for this year, the Mostly Mystery 'Mater Maelstrom (if you get too close to its edge, you'll get sucked in).

Can I name a newly discovered dark tomato Lump Of Coal?

Captain Lucky and Abraham Brown, both in ground, and both from Millard Murdock. Container grown plants made much larger fruit. The AB's showed little stripping and were much more brown. The in ground AB's have a better taste and seed will come from these. Not much to say about CL. Always big production and taste can't be beat. These both make very large plants.

A few people would like to grow out all of Millard's varieties. I don't have time to research and come up with a full list, so...

Just got a 1 1/2" rain. Bone dry for 3 weeks and these plants immediately woke up.
Salvia Skyscraper- pink, Coral Nymph, Vista-red, Bodacious Smokey Jazz have constant attention from bees and Hummers. Feeders are near all the salvia and they hop back and forth. When the young birds flew the coop in early July it's been nonstop. Will start saving spent spikes for seed. I don't plant much seed myself but prefer to winter over cuttings. These explode when they go outdoors in spring. Got cuttings of Smokey Jazz this spring from a friend who started from saved seed. Hopefully seed will mature on the spike. This Smokey Jazz is a killer Hummer magnet.

In the Group Tomato Lover’s Collective & Swap! For short TLC there are breeders list, were there is a list off all Murdocks tomatoes are listed, by Teresa from Terranova farm. It’s in the guidelines in the group

These are headed for the grill this afternoon. Other than the Lemon Spice Jalapeno all are sweet. Blot is the purple bell, Dolce di Minervino is the elongated orange, the 2 yellows are not the right shape for Zolostisty so will save seed from any that show right. Other than the jalapeno all are smaller than usual. I've been picking for about 3-4 weeks which isn't bad considering these particular plants were mowed down to the nubs in late May by deer. None of the container peppers were touched. The Dolce is my go to sweet pepper. Frying, grilling and just the best fresh cruncher, these are great. Been growing the orange for many years but the red Dolce is just as good, just don't grow anymore. I've sent seed in for this one before and will send more if needed. Lemon Spice for sure.

Just bagged up 33 bags of Hoy and 33 bags of Sart Roloise, blossoms unbagged, saved seed from the 2024 harvest. Between 6 and 12 seeds in each bag. Those will be going to Westfield sometime this fall. There will be other tomato seeds coming along as well. Takes a little time to accomplish the put the seeds in the bag bagging process. Got plenty of time.

I may call out a few favors of breeders, looking for one of their abandoned lines of a small dark tomato, if one doesn't accidentally show up in my garden this year.

Asking for a friend. (hmm, that line doesn't really work on this post, does it?)

For those that don't know, someone's penmanship is worse than T'Junction's resident pharmacist, and the height of their labels are about equal to the number of above s X 1/16 of an inch.

Labels are small, but readable.

2 good romano type pole beans. Super Marconi and Qing Bian, both make a load of beans. Qing Bian are bigger than S. Marconi and stay tender. Have been hitting these hard for almost a month. What's left will go to the swap, a couple big bags anyway.
At the expense of "drifting" off topic, just made a huge pot, using a ham hock, homemade chicken stock, etc. Better than the collard greens made a few weeks back.

Top is Loxton Lad, middle is Awesome and the small red is Maura's Cardinal. Awesome rivals Loxton in taste. First time growing Maura's and this 3-5 oz is very good. All are Dwarf Project tomatoes. The small cherries are Maglia Rosa and Carbon Copy. It doesn't seem that CC is being grown much anymore and it took some effort to get this old seed up. To me it's the best tasting cherry I've grown but does crack easily on the vine.
