@Cornelius_Gotchberg I recall sending you pics of a big package of Namio seed. These were seeds that I grew from your gift.

Sweet Ozark Orange and some homegrown lettuce. I’m not sure what I’m going to do in 2025 when it’s no longer the year of the BLT…

The Felly's guy who planted the Namio Heirloom retired, co-worker Abdullah planted just two (2) and gave 'em to me; I'll be saving seed to beat the band.

I forgot, thanks for the turtle postcard. I have a friend, now in his 90s, who in the summer used to take high school students to Sanibel Island, Florida, to tag and count sea turtles. He told me that a very rare leatherback is a sight to behold. A huge one will be about 3 feet shorter in length than a VW bug, about the same height of a convertible minus the roof and windshield, and weigh about 200 pounds more.
Fortunately, they are so rare that the Punch Buggy game likely cannot be played.

BIG_TIME H/T to yer nonagenarian pal for his efforts, the rest of us do what we can; to wit:
I came upon one the other day that, after laying her eggs, was struggling to get up-n-over a curb to get back to the pond...assist to The Gotch!
I collect decorative Turtles and have a few staring me down as we speak; this 'un in particular:
National Geographic had a Sea Turtle issue some time in the last 5-6 years that was just fascinating.

Two years ago, I had to assist a snapping turtle of about 15 pounds across a busy road. I pushed, but it didn't do much walking. Luckily the traffic stopped for us. It was slow going, and I thought the vehicles might be changing lanes to get past us.Cornelius_Gotchberg wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 5:54 pmBIG_TIME H/T to yer nonagenarian pal for his efforts, the rest of us do what we can; to wit:

Sad to say I haven’t or can’t say I’ve seen an alligator snapping turtle. Ordinary snapping turtles a plenty, but the super giant alligator snapping turtles have eluded me. Ordinary snapping turtles live in our oxbow lake, they cross the road from time to time. Football sized, maybe as big as a watermelon. I want to see a 100# plus fresh water turtle.
Can turtles be made into bacon? Turkeys evidently can.
I think I”ll stick with pork belly.

Re: 2024 Leap Year Of The BLT!
About 50 years ago, there was a huge snapping turtle in a local pond, that was estimated to be about 80 to 100 pounds. I saw it several times. The first time scared the ---- out of me. I was fishing off of this somewhat floating dock (just lots of logs tied together, constructed by 13 year old boys), when we spotted what looked like a white bowling ball, slowly moving in the water. It turned out to be the head of that turtle. A few seconds later, the darker body came into view. We scrambled back, off of that dock, as quick as we could.
Some local rednecks caught it the next year. They drove around in a pickup truck for several days showing it off. It rested on top of a truck tire, in the bed of the pickup. You couldn't see the tire, viewed from above.

Aldi thick sliced pepper bacon, Aldi Artisanal Hamburger bun, toasted. Duke’s Mayonnaise, Cuostralee tomato.
Cuostralee is such a yummy tomato. Less sweet than a quality pink, but with a ton of great tomato flavor.
After downing the sandwich, I took the leftover tomato slices with some extra bacon and had crispy bacon/tomato sashimi.

Today’s B(L)T version, minus the lettuce, which isn’t particularly necessary like the tomato or bacon other than for the name.

Without lettuce, your BLT becomes a BT.
That's like eating insecticide.
