The slab for the greenhouse was poured today. Two trucks, 11 cubic metres total. Nearly didn't happen due to a truck breakdown at the yard while filling - the hydraulic system that rotates the drum died part way through filling, the yard eventually got it sorted and truck empty.

Five drain points put in, all of which feed into one line that emptiness into a pit. I can cap the end as needed.

It's a nightmare to have a concrete truck break down.
All the concrete starts to set up inside the drum.

Believe it or not sugar will slow it down and enough will stop it all together.

Exhausted, yes @PlainJane. But definitely very happy that it is done.

@worth1 , had not heard about sugar stopping concrete setting, will look into this a bit more out of curiosity.

What appears to have gone AWOL between the mobile network here and TJ is a post that I put up saying that I have also completed the back wall of the compost bins. 4 bins each 8 x 8 feet about 3 feet high. Maybe overkill, time will tell.

More concrete poured today, a pad at the base of the ramp onto the deck around the house,

This pad will have plastic pallets sitting on it for scraping mud off boots,

a mowing strip alongside the shorter of the two new beds

This bed will have blueberries and either Chilean Guavas or Midgem berries/ Austromyrtus Copper Tops, one of the native Bush tucker berries

and a footpath alongside the longer bed

This bed will get Saffron, Strawberries which ever of the two berries above that are not planted in the short bed and maybe some currents and/or Gooseberries, time will tell

Don't plant the blueberries right next to the concrete as they enjoy an acidic soil and the lime from the concrete won't be appreciated.

Don't plant the blueberries right next to the concrete as they enjoy an acidic soil and the lime from the concrete won't be appreciated.

They will be planted in a raised bed, a good 400mm/16 inches above the concrete and a couple of feet in from the edge to minimize any lime impact. Well aware of their liking for acid soil, but thanks for the advice.

@Puffychicken , had to delay the actual construction of the greenhouse due to the weather, near constant winds here made trying to do anything with polycarbonate panels highly likely to see them damaged.
