Jardín del Gotch Futures Market, 2.0:
thumbnail_IMG_2340.jpg
Only 15 vines left standing, most will (sigh!) come down today during what will likely be our last 80°+ F/26.7 +°C day of the year.

Heck, there's two (2) times that amount in the basement, with more to come.

Yeah, buddy! Wistful, reflective time-o-the-year; started them there Tomatoes six (6) months and a day ago.

65 vines enter [Jardín del Gotch Interrupted] twelve (12) taken down today, three (3) remain; the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch's FAVE Mountain Magic.
Greenies on the terrace for free, remains to be composted:

Final harvest of four (4) Roulette Hybrid Pepper plants; the bright red against the blue make for a right pretty bowlful, am I right:
thumbnail_IMG_2347.jpg
Waltham Butternut Squarsh vines came down, too:
thumbnail_IMG_2348.jpg
In May @rxkeith asked me what I'd do with it all. Won't say; subpar haul, some unripe:

65 vines planted last May, three (3) remain. As luck would have it, it's the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch's Taste Test Favorite; Mountain Magic:
thumbnail_IMG_2350.jpg
Containers get new soil each spring, which is emptied into the beds each fall; stuff's black, moist, and rich.

Reckon I'll tend those planter clumps tomorrow...

Why do you think that the squash were so small? You can use that last one in a mouse trap.

And ripe! But no earthly idea; we've had a lot of small ones, but they've all been greenies.

For once, The Gotch got ahead of a fast approaching hard frost; Garlic's in viewtopic.php?p=108887#p108887....and the embarrassingly meager results/remains of a VERY disappointing Sweet Pepper season are in house:

I reckon we've been dutifully spoiled; there was three (3) times that haul last season and the season before.

We LUV our Sweet Peppers grilled...matter-a-fact, some await my attention as we speak!

there were NO sweet peppers here. first time that has happened for me
only peppers that did anything were a couple hotties. korean dark green ripened to red in the house.
there is a chinese pepper pointing upward that may have crossed with grandpas home that i am waiting
to mature, and a ho chi minh that is partially yellow. sweet peppers were a complete bust. i still have
peppers in the freezer from last year. enjoy those peppers.

good thing the washer and dryer aren't top loaders

That'd be a disappointingly undersized, and usually more yellow, Mama Mia Giallo Hybrid, (https://rohrerseeds.com/products/mama-m ... %20sunburn) my FAVORITE Sweet Pepper!

In previous seasons, a lot of those greenies (Carmen, Giant Aconcagua, & Giant Marconi) and pale yellows (Sweet Sunset Hybrid) would have been marvelously deep Red or Orange.

Despite their low numbers, the best showing was the Goliath Sweet (upper right)

I thought I recognized Mama Mia Giallo! I grew it for the first time this year and really liked it -- thick walls, excellent flavor, very sweet. It took a long time to produce (didn't do anything in midsummer heat) but finally produced a lot beginning in late August. The later ones have had those green areas but still taste great. I also tried Big Daddy, which I thought would be a similar pepper, but it didn't do nearly as well.

Goliath Sweet is a beautiful color! Haven't grown that one. For bells, I've been sticking to varieties that are resistant to bacterial leaf spot. Had to run through a lot of varieties before finding a few that grow well here.

We used to grow and love Carmen but stopped because of disease. I still have seed and may try it again. I wish Atris were still available; it was somewhat similar to Carmen but more disease resistant here.
